Ride to work day report

Great turn out today.. Rode in with a group from Churchville Maryland, Great route!! 20 - 30 riders. About 14.6 mile ride in followed by a 12 ride on post with all the Groups, I'm guessing 60 riders. Riding on post was escorted by our Commanding General and the Aberdeen Proving Ground Police. Lots of bagels, bananas, water, kale chips, Breakfast bars, coffee, etc... Also Harford county Government gave is all a t-shirt, tire repair kit including three tires spoons. Local bike shops gave away some great door prizes, one of which was a Garmin bike computer. I really wanted to win that, but didn't. I did win a 20.00 gift certificate. It was a great ride and we all just had a blast, By the time I rode to my office I clocked a little over 30 miles. I'm thinking it will be about an 18 mile ride back to the car this evening. Great way to start the day!!!!!

Well done. As much as I'd like to ride to work, it simply isn't feasible. 26 miles, a heavy computer backpack, and some truly dangerous roads area all standing in the way.

I bike to work almost every day. But it seems like every year, there is a reason I can't on "bike to work day" itself.

Not this year. Yea, baby.

I ride to work most of the time, weather permitting. That's the big if, and we seem to get lousy weather every Bike to Work Day. This is Bike to Work Week in my area, and it has rained every day this week except Monday, with more expected every day through the weekend. However, I have committed to help out at the Bike to Work Day event on Friday, so I plan to ride whether it's raining or not. Hopefully I'll have better luck than the rest of the week. Yesterday, it started raining hard right when I was getting ready to ride to work, so I drove. Same thing happened this morning.

Although I live in weather wimp San Diego County, we have actually had to postpone two recent Bike-to-Work days, one because of smoke from fire, the other because of rain. (James Taylor would probably have something to say about this. )
