Lots of (humid) heat here in Thailand. I have a bottle of water with me 24/7 to ensure I'm always hydrated even if it's a rest day... I think especially important to take on liquid upon waking up after 6-8 hours without drinking anything.

I'm in Louisiana. When the humidity is really high, evaporative cooling from sweating doesn't work as it should because the sweat just doesn't evaporate as well. In my experience, your body sweats to reduce its temperature and keeps sweating even though the desired reduction in temperature ain't happenin'. I lose a lot of water as a result of the high humidity. The camelbak full of ice works fairly well for me.

Also, I use Skratch Exercise Hydration Mix when it gets hot. That seems to help.

I'd like some too, please. It was supposed to hit 40 F today, here in NE Ohio, but it only hit 37. I took a nice break in the Taco Bell, for some hot & spicy food. 😊 We should see a nice steady rise over the next couple weeks, and a couple days in the 60s is predicted in there.

We get terrible heat and high humidity here in Georgia. Usually very poor air quality too, which adds further cardio stress. For a hard ride, heat stress can be a significant concern & seems to be more of a factor the older I get. The best way I deal with it is acclimation, lots of hydration beforehand (and during, after) and avoiding the sun at its highest. I wear good quality racing kits and find that as long as I'm moving, heat is fairly tolerable.

the Columbia river is a short distance from my front door.. Its headwaters are in the Canadian rockies.

I'll say. The rainy 43deg weather was really helping me with heat exhaustion today.

We do get 98f up here and when you've been riding the 15deg weather all winter, it is a challenge for the body to acclimate.

Our summers are usually pretty dry so I'm gonna try long sleeve wicking fabric jerseys this year. I sunburned way too many times as a kid so I need to be careful now -- I'm getting that mottled, papery old dude skin on my arms. Today reached 90, very dry and windy. I wore a Champion long sleeve tee and spritzed water on it a couple of times. Felt great. We'll see how it goes on hotter and humid days.

Should be a lovely spring and got summer otherwise, but there will be enough water as they are holding off opening the second gate at Owyhee Reservoir unless it's truly warranted. And those winds are of forewarning in case Mother Nature does it again.

In the Florida heat, i do as a couple of others have stated. When i stop , I take an extra water bottle and squirt it in the openings of the bike helmet and some on the jersey. That seems to help as it evaporates once I start riding again.

I also like watering my shirt/hair for a bit evaporative cooling.

Also if you have public transport (bus/train) that will take bikes, you can plan a one-way routes that will keep you on the shaded side of the street - eg, a North>South route in the afternoon as the sun is setting in the West. This is also fun for extending/doubling the 'tether' from your starting point.

Heat, like mountains, are not things to be beaten.

Heat is to be savored, enjoyed for its intensity, like a good Cabernet or a passionate kiss.

Hydrate well and while everyone else is checking the temperature, soft pedaling and complaining, just drop the hammer and enjoy the bake. Let the sweat flow, baby.

For the heat, I say just keep going, let the wind cool me. A lot has to do with what you've acclimated to, now and in the past. Personally I like it warmer, mid-80's before I'm really loose and can go all out.

But honestly here in Georgia it doesn't ever get all that hot. High 90's is about the top end of it, and not even that very often.

^This. Just don't stop and let the air cool you. I like it in the 80s and 90s but don't mind above 100 if it is dry. Rather have that than cold.

Wow. Riding at 38C. I can't fathom. I live in North Pole, Alaska and my wife will typically refuse to ride if it's over 75F (24C). I'll ride up to 80F or even 85F but I'm not sure I've ever ridden a bike when it is hotter than that. Our solution is to ride later in the day. When it's hot here, it's light out. All day, all night so we can ride anytime of the day which is handy when it gets blistering hot like...over 25C...
