Well, it happened with me.
I have a 2012 CADD (cult of CADD) 105, and she a great ride. I shopped for a used graphic bike on ebay, and brought home this beauty. Been over everything, and is in top shape mechanically. SOme blemish in the paint, but nothing deep.
And I love to ride this machine.
1994 Trek 5500. Full Dual Ace. (I could never afford this bike new!)

Very muted feel of the road compared to the Cannondale, given similar tires. That's my guess.

I always read that carbon bikes are "throw away", but these Trek OCLV frames seem to last forever.

My '99 5200 is still my #1 bike. Why on earth would I upgrade? I don't think the new carbon bikes are as nice, really. Yes, 3 lbs. lighter but at what cost in comfort and durability? The thing goes like stink and is comfy on long brevets running 23mm tires.
