70th Birthday ride (metric)
My birthday coincided with a very nice day before the weather changes so I thought I'd go on my favourite ride. It's 42 miles long and I didn't realise that it was 70 kms until I was well into the ride.
A very hilly route, and after a hard day yesterday riding 25 miles then spending all day lopping the garden trees and hedges, I really struggled up the hills, stopping twice on very steep sections, before continuing. Old age certainly doesn't come by itself.

Probably the best located tea rooms for a cyclist in the country.
Huge scones baked on the premises each morning and tea made the traditional way with loose leaves rather than tea bags.
My main problem on that ride is having the will power not to stop there soon after the start of the ride as well as towards the end.
On a side note I don't believe that I'm becoming a better/stronger cyclist as I get older. I have done this ride many times and I really struggled on this one up the hills. Haven't had to stop on the climbs before.
