I'm a day late and a dollar short, as usual. Happy Anniversary to our two favorite BF members (Monica sends her best wishes also,) and great dinner/birthday celebration guests. I want to wish you both a very enjoyable future with lots of sunny, happy miles of cycling. You guys hurry back, the soup and pecan pie will be on the table waiting for y'all to stop by, again.

Thanks Bill! I hope you are riding well despite the health travails. A move to Canada in the not-too-distant future is in the planning stages. We will see how the dice roll in the new few months on a couple of job opportunities I have going at the moment.

You'd be surprised how many couples hae hooked up through Bike Forums. I am not sure of the exact number, but I know it's more than 10 couples, and probably closer to 20. IIRC, the site's founder, Joe Gardner and Shadiyah are among them.

I didn't know about the red, but do know about the tree.

And, Jon T, let me introduce you to 2manybikes... or should I say, Rowan meet Bailey.

My sister also has a corgi, called Teg.

Its much more than a minor part Joe, this forum has been a godsend to many of us, Machka and Rowan are the two that have been steady regulars, which we respect and love. Appreciate all this place has been to you and us.

16 years ago we met on the 2003 PBP
11 years ago we married after cycling a century.
10 years ago we started living together.

It's interesting how sometimes the Universe brings people together when they don't actually get what's happening. You've done well and have been there for each other. Not to mention the love and respect that is mutual. Congrats and best always.

My wife got me back into riding a number of years ago after a 12 yr layoff........ I believe to get me out of the house.

I believe they have had plenty of both in the last couple years...which makes each anniversary extra precious.

While I agree with the sentiment expressed by [MENTION=37999]hawk[/MENTION]owl, I will wish you a brief interlude of mundane "normality".

Congrats a couple of days ago on another anniversary!

Perhaps my attempt at humor didn't translate well over the internet and may have been inappropriate in any case. I was referring to Rowan's injury last year and the incredible and miraculous story that unfolded. I felt that Machka and Rowan's touring expertise possibly helped dealing with the unexpected logistical nightmare, and their undeniably loving bond and mutual devotion gave them the strength to face some of the worst uncertainties life can throw at you.

I suppose, reading Machka's candid updates gave me an overinflated sense of familarity with them, but I often fought back tears reading her posts. And I absolutely cried with joy reading Rowan's first post-injury post.

Slightly prior to Rowan's incident my wife and I dealt with sudden, serious, potentially life altering/life-ending medical emergencies involving two of our children and a grand child, which may also explain why I took Rowan and Machka's story to heart and prayed for the best outcome possible.

I meant no offense, and if I breached any sort of etiquette, I apologize. I simply meant that they had a tremendous, scary adventure they didn't ask for, and that they deserved a less challenging year.
