Ok so this week I took vacation all week. Thought I would just ride and run a bit, have some good beer, decent meals and not leave home. It has been overcast most of week with periods light rain and mist, drizzle but other wise in the low 60's. Seems odd but there has been no real wind and the riding is great. Today I go out at 6:30 am light mist roads wet but no wind at all. I tell you it was a truly nice ride and I have a decent pace 18.6 mph for 2 hours. No wind in any direction...........it is great.

Around here riding in the rain usually means lighting and thunderstorms but just regular rain I can deal with fine. I guess the only thing that might be different is you get your shorts wet and damp but no different that sweat. I tell you it really is the best riding and now with a bit of the autumn air and a Great Lakes October-feast..............you just have to realize when it is good.

We've been getting some rain but mostly, many days of Indian Summer with glorious days of clear skies and a bit of chill air in the early AM. In my immediate area, surrounded on all sides by water, it is warmer than inland so leaves are barely beginning to turn. When they do, it will only be more glorious.

Fall riding is some of the best!

Certainly nice here for October, warm, and we finally had some rain, which was really needed after a very dry September. The down side - last Saturday and Sunday both, it was pouring rain when I wanted to ride. I like riding in light to moderate rain, but this was a downpour, and it lasted several hours both days, exactly at the wrong time to screw up my schedule.

Tomorrow's forecast - rain. Sunday's forecast - rain. Well, as long as it's not another soaking downpour, I'll be out there.

Here its been hot and humid, high temperature records are a regular occurance this month. Looking at some serious problems with insect pests if we have another year without true fall and winter. Fleas and ticks will be a big issue for the area and not just for the animals either.

Its nice to have year round riding, but long term we are going to pay for the warmer conditions that have come to be the new “normal”. At least the mileage is not lagging, just adapting to the humidity and warmer average temps.

Here in NYC fall refuses to arrive. It is supposed to be 80 tomorrow, and it was in the 70s today. Next week though highs in the 60s, but sunny.

@jeromeoneil - Renton Highlands here, ever ride the Cedar River Trail?

I ride it once or twice a week, usually. It's on my commute. I live off of Lake Wilderness and the Cedar to Green trail runs right behind my house. Down the hill to the Cedar River trail and then I take that all the way to Renton.

As a Los Angeles native and longtime north coastal San Diego County resident, I really like this time of year, EXCEPT when the Santa Ana (east-to-west) desert winds strike, and we get a combination of fire danger, low humidity, and uncomfortably (for me) high temperatures. This pattern began today and will peak on Tuesday. As long as it cools off at night and as long as we don't get a big wildfire, I really have nothing to complain about.

Sounds like old home week.

I graduated from Renton HS. I haven't ridden the path, but I've walked some of it on trips back up there from Tucson.

I graduated from Enumclaw High Schoool in '87. I'm one of the few people I know that isn't from somewhere else. I find more Washington natives outside of Washington than I do inside the state.

The state is going to extend the Cedar to Green trail to actually reach the Green River at Flaming Geyser at some point. Right now it's just the "Cedar to a housing development half way to Black Diamond" trail. They want to pave the existing trail first, though, which has a lot of people up in arms, including me.

King County could screw up a wet dream.

Here in LA, we had a 40° drop from 106 last week to mid 60s today. 66 is still comfortable, but no wind, and a light drizzle this morning made for a refreshing ride. Great weather finally, all we need now is some fall color.

It was 70° last week, low 50°s so far this week, going to be 40° the rest of the week, showers, even some snow forecast the next 10 days.
