My 2018 YTD: 1 mile, and that was just sorting out my pedals/cleats today. Considering I was in a wheel chair from May to Oct last year, it's not so bad. My goal is to make the "Closer to Free" ride in New Haven at any distance above the 25 mile. Tomorrow I shoot for 2 miles.

N+1 also applies to lenses. |
I don't have any mileage goals but I did finally achieve a goal that had eluded me many years: to win the county line sprint on the River Ride. So, yay me.
|
My 2018 goals: I know they're simple, but they mean a lot to me:
1. Not to hurt myself 2. Not to embarrass myself (I still race a little; see #4) . 3. Drop down to a better climbing weight of 155 lbs. Because I'd enjoy riding a lot more if not fighting the hills as much. 4. New roads, new adventure. To have a GREAT time!! 5. Do all of the above, without having it getting in the way of the family. To expand on #4 a little, I'd like to travel a bit an try a gravel race or two just to see what it's like. |
My goal this year is to get back to cycling after a few years of trying to be a runner. Last year I did a half marathon, this year will be a century! No mileage tracking as it just makes me crazy, I just want to ride as much as I can.

I resumed cycling last year, after many years of not being on a bike.
I resurrected a 20+ year old hybrid (originally my wife's bike) and modernized the seat, stem and tires. I started riding last spring and fell in love with riding again. Last year, I rode about 750 miles total, and did a couple 25 mile charity rides in the fall (My longest rides yet). In October, I bought a 2016 Trek Domane 2.3 road bike, barely used, off Craigslist. Although my goals are quite modest compared to many, I hope to double my mileage this year to 1,500, ride a few more charity rides, and maybe even attempt a 50 mile or 100K ride in the fall (If I stay healthy). I've not been outside yet due to the strange winter we've had, but I've spent lots of time on the CycleOps trainer to get ready for the season. :) |
Passed 505 miles yesterday for the year. I’ve got monthly mileage charts going back to 1982 and I figure I'm a 150 miles behind for this time of year. :(
|
My 2018 goal is 100 miles per month. To date, 38 miles! Diagnoised with bilateral hernias in late Jan, no riding. Just had the surgery, no riding for at least 6 more weeks. I'm really going to have to hustle beginning in May...

243 miles for 2018. My mileage is typically mostly March - November.

Just ride
My 2018 goal is simple -- just ride as often as I can and rebuild my strength & skill. Now 79 with a few health problems behind me, I'm basically starting over in cold, windy northern Indiana. Second time in 3 years for that. I expect I'll maybe do two miles the first day, just to be safe. I'll shoot for 9 miles round trip within a week or so, resting at 2.5 miles, 4.5 miles & 7 miles.
I'd like for my 20-year-old grandson to ride with me, but he's more out of shape than I am! I'm also looking to connect with a really great Bike Forums member named Keith who mentored me through my first trail rides in 2012. My rather easily achievable goal this year is a 20-mile round trip nearly every warm, mostly calm day. By fall, I hope I'm up to an occasional 30. Season's mileage? Just a few years ago, I was doing 3,000. But I was also riding 15-20 mph, and now I'll be lucky to average 10mph. We have a great system of bikeways here, connecting 4 towns, and I've ridden every inch numerous times. For 2018 my goal is just to ride the hilly sections maybe once. Don |
Finally, top-tenned a M123 race (Bariani RR). Another long term goal finally achieved.
|
I went over 5000 miles last year and was well on the way to 6k, but too many family issues with my elderly parents killed the last two and a half months for me in 2017, and my mileage so far in 2018 has been dreadful. I hope to pick it up real soon, and being in FL the weather is superb at least until June, when the heat starts to take its toll. No predictions, but I’d like to get in at least 4000. If I retire this year or cut back on my hours at work, 6000 would not be out of the question.

Up to 733 miles
March is low mile month for me, But doing better so far this year |
My only annual goal is Crash Less Than Last Year. Since I haven't crashed since 2013 I must be doing okay!
I used to set mileage goals, but life seemed to always find a way to conspire against those. So while I'd like to ride >100 miles/week year-round, I'm not going to beat myself up or feel bad for not hitting that goal. Besides, I'm almost on target: Just hit 1,000 miles for the year at the very end of the 11th week. |
Mileage goals seem arbitrary and as others have pointed out, life always seems to get in the way.
Right now I am at 1024 miles. Strava says 55,000 ft climbing but Strava exaggerates elevation. -Tim- |
Got 850 miles first 3 months
My 3000 mile goal might be doable :thumb: |
863.7 miles for the first quarter of 2018. Looks like my goal of 2,500 miles will be smashed before it is even fall! I just added another 67.9 very chilly miles today. Mother Nature is playing an April Fool's joke on the Midwest region. At least we didn't get snow.
|
My yearly goal is always the same -- 3000 miles. So far I'm at 112, which is actually ahead of pace. The mileage will pick up when the weather warms.
|
1055 miles YTD, in spite of the cold and damp weather this year. Having a indoor trainer has helped me maintain several days of activity per week.
|
2034 miles as of today.

Turned 65 so Goal is 6,500 (dirt) miles
I turned 65 in January & decided to try several goals derived from 65. I switched from road to dirt (gravel, two-track, backcountry wandering) last year so I'm not sure how dirt miles compare to paved miles (did 8,000 paved miles back when I was 55 or so) here are the goals:
1. 65 two-track miles in a day. Done. 2. 65x3=195 dirt miles in a week. Done. 3. Ride 65 consecutive days (average at least 25 miles per day). This is harder than I thought! At 24 right now. Lost 20 days when I got lazy for no good reason. 4. Ride 6,500 dirt miles this year. At 1,569 today. A bit behind due to low miles in January. Need 541 mi/month. 5. Take a bikepacking trip of 6.5 days. Still planning this one. Hope to ride a loop including the Sierra Larga, Jornada del Muerto, Palomas Gap & Quebradas for this one. Those are obscure New Mexico localities but beautiful country. Howard |

My goal is more mileage this year and not worrying as much about average speed. So far, I am really in the mood to ride which is good because I have become a bit stale. Played hooky to ride Monday afternoon which I haven't done in a couple of years and the weather wasn't even great (44 F but sunny). A new bike definitely does that.
