Well I figured the roads were still wet from a rainy ending to 2018, so it was off to my backyard playground for some wet muddy fun. Hoping everyone has a great 2019 with the wind is at your back, and whatever type of riding you do just do it and have fun.

Just a cold (by our weather-wimp standards) utility ride on the Peugeot to the grocery store and the YMCA, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had planned to take the mountain bike offroad again following last week's adventure, but rejected the idea as too muddy for me (but probably not for some of you ).

Also cold and windy in the OC area so I took out the mountain bike for some dirt trails action. Was still nice to get out and do some dirt and heavy gravel.

Low 80's here in N. Florida. Went for a 34 mile ride, just to get the legs working again. Been over a week since my last ride.

Prior to yesterday, I had not been out since the day before Thanksgiving. An unrelated injury and a series of rainy, windy days in the 50s made for too long a break. But yesterday was beautiful and today even better and it was great to get out again.

Beautiful day in Palos Verdes. Brisk, clear, and not a lot of wind.

When I lived in Oxnard, about once a month I would go down to Santa Monica, ride the bike path to Redondo, do a loop of Palos Verdes and back. Very nice ride, can't beat the scenery. Today I did my standard Tues neighborhood ride. I have some interconnecting loops that I use for intervals and hill repeats. Saw a few kids on bikes with parents which was nice. Sunday I was riding the North Shore of Oahu, the place was packed with cars. Fortunately, the main road there has a shoulder so I could ride pretty much my pace ignoring the cars (you do have to keep your wits about you as at certain locations you can anticipate cars will make erratic right turns to grab parking).

First ride of the year this morning at 4:15 and 33 degrees F. Just a little over 14 miles, which I do 2-3 times a week before work.

Some folks from the local cycling club snowshoe to a nearby peak each New Year's day. It was -12°F this year so they only went part way. I stayed home and sweated on the trainer...

First ride of 2019 was yesterday -- 48*, light winds -- not bad weather for January 1. 63.5 miles on the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau.

I ride on New Year's Day. Cloudy but 62 degrees in north GA. My fourth ride in ten days, which is very good for me. Now, just have to keep at it and make the huge switch over from Christmas foods to healthy stuff!

I did a minor breakthrough with a 40km ride with Machka along one of our favorite farm country routes in our home state of Tasmania. Averaged a smidge over 17km/h which is OK on our English Thorn Club Tour bikes on a route that is part of one our organised Audax events.

That's the longest I have covered on a ride since late last March, compared with the 300km randonnee earlier that month. Weather is lovely sunny here and fortunately the strong winds have eased.

I am really looking to breaking the 50 and 100km marks in a while.

Nah. I'll not give her name here, but she does buckets of double centuries and brevets, and on any given weekend, you can see her out in the local mountains, adding to her incredible climbing stats.

On 1/1/18 it was 19°F and the ride lasted about 8 miles before cold fingertips resulted in stopping the ride. This year it was ~50°F,
a much more common temp for our area and the at least 40 yr old New Years Day ride went off with two tandems, two recumbents
and about 20 DF bikes from the pancake place to the doughnut shop and back. Overall about 30 miles for me, and a good start for the
year. Rainy and overcast today however.

32F/0C here in Sacramento, which is pretty much my limit.

New Year ride was a warmish 44F with 15 mph winds so felt much cooler. The State Park Rangers were serving warm beverages to those that braved the cooler temperatures. Loved seeing so many cyclists getting an early jump on 2019.

Really windy here but managed to crank out a solo 35 miler. Pushing hard and holding 9 MPH at times but I had fun. The wind is my friend!

Beautiful Friday in Denver/Boulder, 60 F - and I did my first ride of the year, a 45 mile Lafayette/Lyons ride, and saw a LOT of other cyclists out on the roads, at least 50 riders going south 75th Street while I was heading north.

Unseasonably mild weather in central Indiana of late - I've ridden every day this year! Longest ride only 19 miles.

After a few cold days (4 degrees on New Year's morning), we had a few days that got into the 50s! Got out a couple times this week, not bad for January. Lots of folks had the same idea, there were a lot of people out on their bikes.
