Silver Comet Trail Day 1
Day 1 done! Since all my bike tours have been cancelled I’m doing a brief solo trip. I rode the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga Trail 100 miles from Smyrna, GA to Anniston, AL. Enjoying the AC in the hotel for now and will ride back to the van in the morning. Hopefully that will be 3-100 milers over 5 days if all goes well tomorrow!! I have my mask and hand sanitizer!
Trying out an Arkel randonneur rack.

Brushy Mountain Tunnel

Bike setup for this overnight trip.

Cedartown Depot is half way.

Great signage and paved the whole way.

State Line at 61 miles. Trail becomes the Chief Ladiga from here to Anniston.

The end!

Lunch was awesome. Best turkey sandwich ever.

Finished! A few more miles to the hotel.

Great ride and pics! Grew up in Smyrna but moved away in the early 90's. Did a short stretch of the trail a few years back while visiting. At one time we thought about buying some property on the trail in Alabama but instead did Arkansas.

Thanks for that and the pics, jppe. I’ve ridden the Silver Comet a number of times, but not recently and did get to Cedartown from Smyrna and back a couple of times, but the AL bit was not completed then. Well done!
