Slide....LOL. Welcome to cycling where "everyone" spends more than they should and more than they intended to. Cycling can sometimes be a pouty, demanding mistress but when she's undulating beneath you, she always seems worth it at the time. 8-)

I spend about half the time on drops and half on hoods. Like anything else, sliding hands down from the hoods to the barends becomes second nature. Perhaps most shifting "issues" or loyalties really reflect what we best know. I plan on a new bike next year which will most probably be STI. Which I will probably also like. Being an olde farte, I like to sometimes hang on to that part of cycling which reminds me when I was younger, faster, and full of p.&v. Hence the Mavic/Superbe/Simplex dt mid 80's criterium style bike. LOL.

I was concerned about riding the bike to work today because I had a vision of getting a flat which would make me late for a critical meeting. I got there ok and had the meeting. Then at about 1000h, I went back to my office where my bike has its own wall to lean up against. I noted the front tire, the one which concerned me, was flat. But the bike got me to the office on time and THEN went flat when it didn't matter. A quick new tube insert in the comfort of my office, and I'm off again.
To me, bike went that extra mile in effort. Maybe I'm silly, but that's me.
