Do you think you're younger than others your age because you're so fit?

My wife and I went to a Rick Springfield concert (“I Want My Eighties”) over the summer and most of the attendees were 50-something GenXers like us. But, looking around, we couldn’t help but notice that we were looking pretty good in comparison.
Cycling for me and running for her are definitely keeping us “young for our age!

I credit cycling with a renaissance in the bedroom.
No, I do not mean better and more sleep.

I suspect that part of how you'd answer the OP's original question depends on how far into the 50+ category you are. I do recall, at around age 65, thinking that I don't feel any older than I did when I was 35. Now, eight years later, I wouldn't say that. If you're in your 50s or 60s, you might think that exercising has enabled you to stop the aging process. Are any BF members in their 70s and 80s thinking the same thing?

At age 77 I am definitely in better shape than my peers. And, it's beyond cycling. I go to the gym 6 days/week at 6 AM and do a weight routine that no one I know, who is near my age, is doing. I'm happy to be well enough to do what I do.

Usually I'm pretty puffed up with my fitness-self but not tonight. I'm going to a dinner party with 6 other couples and five of those gents and two of the ladies are triathletes, regularly doing events.
Pinch measuring my love-handles now and not feeling like such a hard-azz. Heh.

Competing with your former self is challenge enough. I've been motivated to train more since September, and yesterday I managed to break my 1000 VAM barrier on a local category 4 climb. I haven't been above 1000 VAM since the 2000s. Wohoo!

My resting pulse is low, and my blood pressure is the same as when I was in high school, so yeah, I think cycling keeps me physically younger, though it doesn’t add color to my hair, or add hair, for that matter.

I stopped worrying about my age about the time I stopped worrying about my hair (lack of.) People obsess about lots of stuff.
