Spring rains blow me home. I win,
Alone at Roubaix!
No teamates there to wake me.

The bike seems eager to go
I laugh, my nose runs.

Under thin blue sky
a chill wind gets in my face.
I back off. Coward.

Eight days with no ride?
Yell at wife! Kick the poochie!
Cranky at neighbor.

Snippy with mail man.
Says he, "Eat $#!+, you moron!"
and spits in mailbox.

Good help hard to find.
I leave for airport, taxi late.
Snarl at cab driver.

"Wrong way!" I holler.
"Get Out!" Yells driver of cab.
"Sahib should get him a bike!"

Moral of story:
Sahib now have no career.
because of miss'd flight.

Neighbor not talking.
wife at mother's, poochie, too.
Plenty time for bike.

The End

peddling in rythym
heart pumping, breeze in my face
living in the ride

Street crosses ahead
I take the lane. What? Never
seen a bike before?

haiku in fourth grade
now its fifty years later
it's hurting my brain
