I keep reading this "newbie" phrase and am trying to figure out why it makes a difference. Someone posting for the very first time might have more time spent on different types of bikes and riding than half the posters of this entire forum combined. I've read very insightful posts from people with low post counts. Don't be afraid to contribute or just make a wisecrack.

No, other people understand bicycle frame geometry and know why it's possible a well-designed frame can and will allow a person's foot to contact the front tire. These people don't have a "problem".

[some stuff cut]

As others have mentioned, normal people "deal with toe-overlap" - but this may not apply to you. Good luck.
Sigh!

R.C. is either purposefully trolling (how pathetic) or an arrogant bustard (how pathetic).......I notice he mostly goes after "new" cyclists (again, how pathetic).

It's obvious. His mother couldn't and didn't love him. RC, we feel your pain.

I sincerely believe there are mornings when he wakes up with a nasty hangover!

Once again, I admire the "ignore" feature. And thank you, Dnvr, for quoting him without attribution. That's the only downside of "ignore" -- so often someone else quotes the, um, socially challenged individual and I have to read it anyway! At least you didn't give him any more publicity.

As an OT aside... oddly, I was just thinking about the issue while shopping this morning -- if any domestic product showed a fundamental flaw that could lead to injury-by-ambush, it would be yanked from the shelves. But people like RC allow these deficiencies to continue to be designed into bikes to be ridden by ordinary, non-racer types by giving their approval to them.

I bellieve RC goes under other names on other forums, and on one LD forum I frequent, has established himself as being equally blunt and incapable of debating without personal insult creeping in. It's a shame, because he does have a few kernels of valuable information to contribute.

Just shrug your shoulders like the rest of us do and get on with talking to the friendly people.

Thanks for the advice about "shrugging my shoulders." There are , of course, folks like him on every forum. One of the things he does - apparently - is to strike and then never again read the responses to his posts.

This isn't his first time, nor likely his last. But, there is just a bit more history to this that I don't feel comfortable sharing publicly.

Then at the very least, get Webb on the phone and file a report.

Don't you automatically get an AARP card after 5 consecutive visits to the Golden Corral buffet?

Okay, I am not apologizing for calling myself a newbie, maybe I'm naive, but I don't see anything derogatory in the word. That's what I am, and I am soaking up information as fast as I can! As much fun as this forum is, actually out riding is way more fun. And I think alot of my improvement(that's using my own yardstick), has come from information and misinformation on this website. I chime in as much as I want to, and just get so much entertainment, inspiration and good info from reading, I totally enjoy all of you! This is probably really good for me, because I am not much of a writer. I'm a bookkeeper, I do numbers.

That'd make this forum "infectious?"

Hey, I resemble some of these posts...... For the record, I don't "try" to hurt anyone. My posts are intended for my own enjoyment. I make every effort to be as accurate and interesting as possible when I post.

Curiously, most of the posts in this thread are indentical to my postings in their intent. Everybody feel better?
