or about $444.68 a pound

i ran across a luxury and exotic car magazine today and while glancing through the pages i came across a small article ( the first thumbnail below ). the other shots are from the website.

for that price i gotta believe the weight indicated is a typo.

wasn't sure which forum to post this in but i feel most at “home” in this one.

I believe its correct...28#. What you are seeing is a hypermarketing branding combo...its like the King Ranch F-150 Ford Pickups. You pay for them to use you to advertise. Its like the little polo player on the shirt. This far exceeds something like Trek, which markets at a premium over some well known and not so well known brands based upon the TDF success (note, this is not a stab at Trek).

I suspect this bicycle is being produced in a limited edition.....as in ...limited to the number of people who want one.

I bet its a real bummer to replace a broken spoke on that thing, and the fenders are not big enough to be practical for touring.

You should get this moved over to the road cycling fourm. They would have a blast with this one.

Didn't BMW try something like this? I really like the flashlight strapped to the hb with gum bands on a $12,000 bike.

Price per pound. I like it. With the changes and upgrades to my bike, I'm at $131.94 per pound.

yep. limited to 50 ( lets see... 50 bikes x $12,540 = $627,000 minus development cost x ... )

look at the 3rd thumbnail for the “limited edition / build number plaque”

also i think Monoborracho is correct about... “What you are seeing is a hypermarketing branding combo...”

likewise a nod to oilman 15106 :: i believe BMW, hummer, and cadillac have these “brand extensions”.

https://www.cadillacbicycles.com/about.html

( i like the SEFETY typo at the begining of the movie - makes you wonder about the overall quality of the product )

https://www.hummerbikes.com/

jeep probably has ( or should have ) an off road bike tie-in.

BMW sell a BMW branded bike as do quite a few of the top range manufacturers and they sell them at a top brand price. In the UK we have the Landrover. Forget the Range rover from the same stable but the Landrover is a good basic Offroad vehicle designed for the use that The military and Farmers will give it. You have the Hummer and the Jeep- we have the Landrover. Landrover also sell a bike woth their name on it. Its a Mountain type bike but Bottom of the price range at around £200 ($400). Compare that to the price of the BMW bike at around 10 times the price. Daft thing is that I have ridden the BMW bike and Ridden the Landrover Bike. By the time I had got them covered in Mud,I could not tell the difference in riding. Both were bad.

The bike weighs a mere 12,8 kg (with conventionally spoked wheels the bike weighs 11,5 kg)....

so the original article was correct.

i just did a quick math conversion and 12.8K = 28.2 lbs. ouch.

as to the negative comments. i kinda agree - but...

a fool and his money are soon parted.

then again, if you have the money you have the right to spend it any way you want to.

a fair amount of what i read on these pages is too rich for my wallet.

Colnago and Ferrari also do one for about $9,000. You can buy one here....https://www.competitivecyclist.com/za...RODUCT.ID=1852. It weighs 6.7kg. MUCH less bike for the money (weight wise that is ).
