Prayers needed for UNC's Mascot

OT but University of NC's Mascot was struck by a vehicle last night. He was out walking alongside the road prior to UNC's game with USC in New Jersey. He is in very bad shape.

He's a super kid and was good friends with my daughter in High School. He needs all the help he can get right now.

Sorry to hear about this...I have two in college-- his parents must be distraught. I'll put this request in to the Ladie's Prayer Circle tomorrow. They may be silver haired and fragile, but those ladies are Determined and can seemingly move mountains.

So sorry to read that. Please keep us posted on his recovery, if you can.

It was good of the driver to stop..... how awful for him too.

In most, if not all, states it would have been a felony if he hadn't stopped. Of course, that doesn't mean this driver didn't stop for all the right reasons, not just because it was the law--and you're right, it's horrible for him, too, as he will have to live with it no matter how innocent the accident might have been.

Best wishes for a complete recovery.

I know.... but I hear/read about hit-and-runs all the time. Almost every day when I look at the Sigalert traffic map, one of the diamonds represents a hit-and-run accident. Stopping and assisting is always the right thing to do, but many don't and that is why I praise this driver for choosing to doing so.

Please keep us posted on his condition. I will pray for him and his family.

Sad story for what sounds like a great kid. Doesn't look like he is going to make it:

Thank you for telling us about this tragedy; since my two sons straddle him in age, his parents have my full sympathy.

I am not familiar with the intersection, but one account reads as though he was crossing the mouth of a freely-flowing offramp. These freeway-style intersections can be extremely dangerous to bicyclists and pedestrians, and even to other motorists.

I heard about it on TV. My prayers are with him.

Just saw a new blurb that he did not survive. My condolences to his family, JPPE and his family. Makes me glad I only lived in NJ for a year or so. Drivers are wild there!

This is so sad. My condolences and thoughts go out to his family, too.

So, so sad for everyone involved.... he was on the brink of graduating, new job, and it sounds like he was an all-around great kid.

That's terrible. Kids are not supposed to leave this earth before their parents. It's just not right.
