I'm heading out for a ride.

It's cloudy. No sun. 59 degrees. Some wind (6 mph).

It's going to be tough. I can only hope I pull through. I hate it when the weather turns nasty like this.

But at least I have new sunglasses to wear, even if it's cloudy.

Whoa, no hasty decisions here. Think long and hard about this. I just can't imagine why you'd want to beat yourself up, going out in that mess.

Going by the weather reports- I have a problem tomorrow too. It is supposed to be warm, sunny and no wind. Now do I chance just the short sleeve top or shall I take a backpack with the Goretex- an extra L/S top and the leggings. Up till this week- that is what I have had to wear and I will feel naked without them

Good thing you guys haven't taken the studded tires off yet...

With what we have had recently, what you are describing would be nice to ride in.

Yawn...... I think I'd roll over on the couch and watch another movie.

Well, somehow I managed.

I faced brutal lukewarm temperatures but pressed on, battling with headwinds that occasionally exceeded 5 miles per hour. Given that I had opted for shorts instead of leg warmers (what was I thinking!) I'm amazed that I was able to persevere for over fifteen miles.

And of course, now that I'm safely back home, the sun has broken through the cloud cover. Sigh.

Its a miracal that you survived. Weather that bad hasn't happened here since last year. I'm going back to ride the trainer again this week.

As you know my love of the trainer has a lot to do with my avitar.

I'm getting ready for the first "Bike for the Health of It" ride for the local parks this morning. It's currently 23F with 11 mph winds and a prediction of snow showers. At least it's better than last night when we had what seemed like a small blizzard move through the area. Hopefully everyone has sense enough to stay home and the bike patrol members can just go to breakfast

Well....I should have known some people just don't have any sense when it comes to riding the bike

We had 12 people for this mornings ride (6 riders/6 patrol) but it was called due to trail conditions. It was snow covered with patches of ice By the scheduled start the temps were 24F with 14mph winds. Everyone decided it was much safer to walk across the parking lot to the restaurant for breakfast.

I take it the Cuyahoga Valley National Park ride for today is likely cancelled?

This is the advantage of Mountain biking. I would love to ride in stuff like that up on the hills. Not for long mind you but The scenery is so good when it all goes the same colour. Saves you trying to miss the muddy bits.

The pros are racing toward Richmond, Virginia through snow flurries right now. US Open on NBC.

DG - You're killing me. Yesterday I rode 2 hrs in 27F with snow showers, today did 1.5 hrs in 26F with a wind chill of 13F due to the strong winds out of the west (20-30MPH), oh did I mention the snow showers today, the front of my jacket was snow covered, so much for global warming. Tuesday it was 80F and silly me packed up all my winter gear and had stored most of it away, had to pull it out and will be wearing it at least thru Monday. Being born in SoCal I'm thinking this native son may need to head home.

The sun was shining here...couldn't restrain myself...had to ride....15 miles of abandoned railbed.
Just got back home and I'm kinda tired....from removing balaclava, mittens, winter coat, sweatshirt, longjohns, heavy socks...puff puff. I guess I'm kinda out of shape. Did ya know that a thick enough skim coating of ice will help steady your bike as you slip and slide through mud under two inches of water. Way Cool.

Sorry to hear conditions aren't quite as good out there. Hope they improve soon.

By the way, if you couldn't tell, I'M JEALOUS.

I think they got more snow in that part of Ohio than we did. I'm in the SW area and we had anywhere from a dusting to 1/2 inch of the fluffy sunshine

On my ride home from work this morning, the temperature had risen to 23 deg F, it was partly cloudy and had not started snowing yet. Hard to reconcile that with the Brevet I rode last week in Kentucky: at 6 AM it was cloudy and 55 degrees. But both rides were enjoyable in their own way.
