I can see where it could be a heady experience for a local racer to go into a Trek shop and buy the same bike, or later this year an ever better bike, than what the top cyclists in the TdF are riding.
This is unlike say a NASCAR car which has been heavily modified to the point of it not being anything at all like a car on a dealer showroom floor.
