They are certainly a "Great American Success Story." Just a couple of Wisconsin guys making frames, out of a barn I believe, in mid-1970s, to now being the dominant #1 in the US market and, by a lesser percentage, #1 worldwide in bikes sold through speciality (read that non Wal-Mart) stores. Their annual revenue is now over $600M.

I am hoping I can still keep losing weight and maybe be at 200 lbs by next spring. I'll consider looking at one of these new ones at that time. I'm thinking Madone 5.2 myself.

And I do hope the one I'm going to win in the raffle on Saturday is one of the new ones...

I for one like the seat post - so much better than what Giant is doing with their's, for example. Here's a review from PEZ:

I wish some guy on a lugged steel bike with 32-spoked wheels, friction bar end shifters and a Brooks saddle would win it.

How about a 64 year old woman on one of those new Madones

I sold my Madone only because I did not like the geometry and could never get comfortable on it, I doubt I would ever buy another Trek. I do miss the lightness though especially up hills.
I grew up in Richardson, and I think you misspelled "freeway overpasses".

I can see where it could be a heady experience for a local racer to go into a Trek shop and buy the same bike, or later this year an ever better bike, than what the top cyclists in the TdF are riding.

This is unlike say a NASCAR car which has been heavily modified to the point of it not being anything at all like a car on a dealer showroom floor.

They did!

You are just reading the reports from the wrong year!
