That is great (and sad), and would make a great photoshop exercise. Next time you want to practice my skills of minimalist suggestion, you could make the imprint of a pig, a t-rex, or what have you!
You can really see that it was a duck in that imprint.
Poor duck.

My cat thinks God sends him a quail now and then. We live in a rural area that's being overwhelmed by a couple of thousand new homes, and the wildlife is really struggling. We've left some brush piles for shelter, maintained the native vegetation and put in bird feeders and water on our property to help. Probably won't do much in the long run, but it makes me feel better....
The yard is full of quail most of the time, and our cat (an indoor pet) watches them through the window. Three times this spring and summer, a quail has fluttered up from the feeder and crashed through the glass into the living room. We're leaving the curtains closed now...

the pic is just as it is, untouched, except for a crop ( no pun intended) I couldn't believe the imprint so I had to take the photo.
I took it with the trees in the background to make the white imprint stand out more.

Loved all the puns thanks :-)

I have that happen a few times, only with doves, same result.
It does make your heart jump at the sound of the impact.
One of these days a bird is going to cost me a bucket full of money.

Duck a l'Orange, Or were you too busy with the camera. All we have round here are Seagulls- and they leave a different imprint.

I could tell it was a real photo. That's why I said it would be a great photoshop exercise...very hard to make that kind of subtle light work. In fact, could I use that as an example for people to try? I belong to a Photoshop Contest site that would love* to try their chops at this.

Do what you want with it.
As long as we can see the results
