Would you?

OK, I don't know what on earth possessed me but I took the plunge and ordered a pair of these:

I don't know if I was on crack or what but this is what showed up on the order (and what I received)

Yikes! My LeMond is BLUE, what am I to do with RED shorts. I did try them on briefly -they're really nice (uh-oh)- and Nashbar appears to now be out of the blue. So, would you wear read shorts with a blue bike? I do have that red 50+ jersey on order. My Kaitai is black; nothing wrong with red & black. Am I crossing over into DG territory?

DG's preference for white bikes makes more sense every day.

I wear blue on my red/black/white bike all the time, but then again I have been accused of being fashion impaired.

I may have worn read shorts. But I won't tell you how well-read or by whom.

I gues that's kind of my point, too... I am decidely NOT fashion conscious so why should I -or anyone else- care? Function over form, right? I can still get a blue pair and have two.

All I try to do is to not look ridiculous ... and I don't always succeed.

I never attempt to match my bikes' colors to my clothing.

Get a white jersey and you'll be all patriotic-like. Get bibs and you'll be even more comfortable. My latest pair of bibs are Volers from Hammer Nutrition, who, in exchange for selling them for the bargain price of $45, puts their big red logo on both legs. (Call me a ho, but I'm willing to suspend my no logo principles to save $25.) Every time I wear them (every third day in the laundry/kit rotation) I also wear my red jersey, and coupled with my green Klein it feels a little bit like Christmas.

They will go well with the 50+ jersey.

Am I the only one with the nerve to say no way in hell will those look right on your Lemond???? You will just not be able to wear them whilst riding that one. If you want them for the KaiTai and swear you will only wear them on that one, you may keep them. But only if.

Either that or what the hell, get a hi vis yellow jersey too and clash everywhere.

A brave man speaks up! See, you are just voicing the very doubts I am expressing.
Now, as for the hi vis yellow... I already have that covered with this (part of the same order as the shorts)

EX-FRED ALERT!!!

A true Fred would embrace the color clashing.

You should have seen me this morning, black shorts, black socks, tan shoes, Sage and Cream bike, and Blaze Orange Tee shirt (wicking kind, from target). It was pretty early, andI did want to be seen... But my bottles are green to match my bike... if that helps.

I have a white bike with red trim, and I wear a blue jersey and a red helmet. I get saluted on the roads al the time.

Anyone ever read the Rivendell catalogue? They insist that no one should have any trouble wearing a long-sleeve seersucker shirt while riding, regardless of the time of year.

A seersucker shirt, these red shorts, maybe some Birkenstocks to go with your pedals. I think it would be a killer look.

I used to have a Rivendell membership. I could handle the wool hairshirts, but the relentless rants about seersucker pushed me over the edge into the sinful world of lycra.

Great point. To say it another way, true Freds are totally clueless.

You ought to feel lucky in having a blue bike that you wish to Co-ordinate with. Those red shorts will go well with a 50+ jersey by the Way.

I have to look for gold clothing. Not quite my colour.
