Hello Richard,

My first post here but a long time lurker.

I'm the guy that made David's Bentech frame up. You'll remember his posts and pictures on Bicycles Net.

If you contact me by Email I may be able to help you at very little cost.

Note the dot between john and lewis and change the at appropriately.

I've now built up 2 Bentechs and four Toureasy clones for myself and friends.

I'm 66 years old. My bikes are Bentech, TE clone , Logotrike and a Giant cypress SE.

I'm in Western Australia
Arrggghhh. I knew this would happen. John, I just sent off an email ordering my Toscana, and then came on here to gloat about it ... and saw your post.

Ah well. I'll salve my conscience by telling myself I'm better off starting with a complete unit.

I had a close look at the Greenspeeds this morning ... while dropping the rear wheel from from my ... wait for it ... DF bike off to get rebuilt (popped a spoke and her being my every day bike, I thought I'd pay for the fix). Anyways, the Greenspeeds. First thing I noted was the cost - $2,800 for the cheapie, which was nice because I can't even think about forking that out. Second thing I noticed was that thanks to the shape of the rear forks, I won't be able to use my existing dog trailer - okay, not an insurmountable problem but having just bought the dog trailer, I don't feel like buying another or trying to modify this one (the fork shape won't take the hitch I've got). A second excuse, even if it is shaky.

But I tell you what, them Greenspeeds are darned nice bikes and very well made. At that price, they are NOT over priced by any means and I'd happily pay that money for any bike of similar quality. But it is miles out of budget.

Anyway, I've ordered the Toscana shown above. I took the coward's way and ordered the disc brake model. It may mean I'm buying wheels with more spokes quickly, but we'll suck it and see and I can delay almost every other upgrade except maybe the gearing (and that can be done with greasy fingers and a smaller granny chainring).

That Toscana has a comfy looking seat. I haven't quite mastered riding CWB's with their high crank positions. My Sun EZ-Rider is almost a super cruiser design.

Just a word to the wise, don't try riding that Toscana with baggy shorts!!

Ahh, and I can see why. I didn't think of that and baggy shorts are my preference, either that or jeans.

Cripes, there are bear pits everywhere aren't there.

It's not just the chance of something baggy getting caught in the drivetrain, but also that loose bottoms of legs on anything you wear become a "scoop" for insects of the stinging variety to end up in your nether regions.
