I'd be very interested in the number of hours this took.

Retirement job training? I thought retirement means you don't have a job, and who needs training for that?

I did quite well for a January in Toronto, 87 km. I think that is about 300 miles.

I got in 516, which is pretty good for only 12 rides (all rides were at least 40 miles). We had lots and lots of rain. I had one stretch wherein I didn't ride for 11 days! Here's an action shot:

~ 1hr and 50 minutes per day commuting to and from work
~ 7 hrs per day on the weekend riding 100 miles each day with the DC Randonneurs

Probably in the neighborhood of 20 hours per week.

Those are impressive figures. Anyone who doesn't see how commuting can up your riding level, jsut isn't paying attention. Someday (and I'm running out of 'em) I'll work someplace where commuting is even remotely possible. And those 200 mile weekends.... beyond my ability to even imagine at this time.

We'll be riding in your state tomorrow, but not on the west side:

352 miles for January. Missed riding last Sunday due to the rain, which would have made it 372.

I get more miles between May and Sept, when I can get in a ride before work.

BikeWNC's mileage ought to count 3 to 1 compared to the rest of us. I can understand why he measures by time instead of miles-especially with the views he has on his regular rides. Seriously I suspect he has more climbing feet per mile than most of us. Besides, he is focusing more time on becoming a ride tour director for Western NC!!!

If my MotionBased info is correct, 367 mi and 23,337 ft climbing for 7 rides, all on weekends. Also, 2-3 spinning classes per wk which will turn into rides when the days get longer.

54 mi today w/ 4k climbing, and I'm leading a ride tomorrow which will be about 45 mi. I'm going to a Hunter Allen training with power seminar next weekend in Princeton, so probably little riding. Winter has been mild in NJ so far this year.

403 miles in January. Probably a third of it in the rain, mist or light snow.

I only use a bike computer about half the time, but using those figures as an average I climbed 25,400 feet.

240 miles of that was commuting. The rest was just goofing around.

Gosh, I'm soooo jealous of you with mileage. Last year I was at least able to ride a few times in January, this year none. There have been no days this past month without ice and snow on the local roads. The snow banks are over 3 feet high and that's after they've melted down somewhat. So I've been indoors riding on a trainer everyother day. I've got over two hundred miles on my trainer this month.

Yeah, well, I'm an idiot. It took me 6 years of living in Seattle to figure out that if I had fenders, lights and good cold weather gear I could bike year round. I used to think that skiing was my winter sport; now I know better.

The dirty little secret about Seattle is that we actually have pretty good weather year round. It rains all winter, but the rain is rarely torrential and if you pick your days (and buy the right gear) you can be outdoors quite a bit, even if you don't participate in snow sports.

Last summer, someone whispered the phrase "rain bike" to me and a lightbulb went off in my head...

I had company until the 11th and then a sinus infection and then more out of town company and then my sons high school soccer tournament. Managed only 128 miles. Not a good start, but I plan on doing much better in February.

You beat me RoMad!

I had 124 miles, most of which was on the MTB because of the snow hear and there. (Coldest ride so far was at -5)

I always planned to have some type of part-time retirement job to keep me out of trouble I'm going to be a Weight Watchers meeting leader. I plan on being a substitute so it won't interfere with my biking.
