Bike Virginia 2008

we did it, my wife and I just signed up for the 08 ride. We'll be doing the "Sherpa'ed camping". Now we need to seriously kick up our training.
Any other regulars here riding this year ?

It's close to me this year. Looks like a good route. Should be some climbing I would think.

My wife and I will probably sign up. We are looking at schedules. How quick do motels fill up? We are wussies.

It's a good idea to book your room as early as possible. Two years ago I waited until the last minute and couldn't find a reservation in one of the locations, but last year when plans fell through to stay with friends in Williamsburg for the three days that BV was there I was able to get a room on Friday for three days starting on Sunday. If you're not sure you'll be able to go just make reservations that allow you to cancel up until the day of your stay.
Also, BV says that they have arranged "special rates," but I found I got a better rate on my own, so shop around.

Is "virginai" some kind of plural form of a certain word?

No, it's a form of finger dyslexia, I tried to correct it in edit but it would not let me.

Not sure about Virginia, but Georgia's ride, BRAG, is two weeks earlier, June 8-14, and rooms in the smaller towns along the route are already booked solid. One of my friends had to decide he was not such a wussie or else he would have to not go. He's going to camp.

I would love to do this ride but I already have two tours planned this summer. Maybe I can join next year if there's a 50+ team.

We will be glad to join up with you. But if I remember some earlier postings I think my wife and I will lag behind you in speed and endurance so we may have to chat a bit in the mornings and then part company on the road

We would also join a 50+ team, although I also think we would be on the low end of the endurance and speed as this is our first tour ever.

We wouldn't mind you coming here to ride your bike around, however knowing how to spell the name of the place your going will help you with your GPS or map quest!!

Let he who is without typo cast the first (or in this case 3rd) smart remark.
