Oh My!

So I commuted in to work this morning after a two month hiatus.
Oh my gosh! I can't believe how much I've deteriorated in eight weeks.
I guess all the repetitions at the dining room table with the fork and
spoon didn't do much for the old Cardio-Pulmanary systems. Ugg!

I know, in a couple of weeks it will be much easier....but what a
rough couple of weeks it's going to be. And yes, I know that if I
would have used an indoor trainer I could have stayed in shape
during the bad weather, but I didn't.

Huff, huff, huff, ugg!

Happy trails

Doesn't have to be that rough. Wait a day. Your body heals when you are NOT beating on it.

Oh my indeed. I can definitely sympathise, and hope the next few weeks are easier for you than the past few have been for me.

I've grown accustomed to pain, but I've also found that, after pedalling lazily for a few miles, it magically seems to disappear. Until later that night or early the next day

Oh lawd, I've been out of the loop for at least eight months (distracted by second kid, foiled by Canadian winter, excuses etc). I DO have a routine though when I'm trying to get back into the commute; I chug about 2 liters water per day and avoid dairy for at least two weeks and then my first week I ride at a pace like any of the old dudes that have milk crates strapped to their bikes[1].

If I push it all out my first ride of the year I find I'm totally demoralized for at least another two weeks afterwards.

[1] These guys invariably ride YEAR ROUND and are hard as steel, so I can't knock them, I usually just like to ride faster than walking speed.

Yup, I wish we could keep the fitness we build. Then we could just pick up where we leave off.

I do half commutes now and again and by coincidence, this is my first day back on that program as well. We shall grow stronger together.

I have a nasty idea that I am going to know how you feel in about a months time. The wife has decided that it is time to unpack all those boxes that are in the garage and sort the base out and get her new pool up. That puts paid to April for me.

Better already!!!!!

40+ mph tail wind yesterday made the ride home a breeze (hee hee),
and even with a 20+ mph headwind today the ride didn't seem half
bad. Promise of a calm and sunny ride home this evening and I've got
a boxed toy awaiting assembly when I get back home. I think the
"Grove" isn't all that far away after all.

Happy Trails

edit: oops, make that groove, not grove.

You're doing much better than I've done the last few days. We cancelled the ride last night due to cold 22+ mph winds. Somehow that just didn't seem like fun and we went to dinner instead

My boxed toy is awaiting assembly, too. It seems there is a group nearby who regularly ride on the trails in the area. They're planning on doing a charity ride this summer......62 miles
