Compliment time

Went to see one of my customers yesterday and he is thinking of getting a new bike. Sorted some magazines for him that had reviews of new bikes --But he was not at work. He commutes to work in LONDON and he is off sick with a couple of broken ribs. Passing a line of parked cars and the driver opened the door up on him. He is no longer thinking of a new bike- he now needs one.

But it reminded me of my last visit to him. As he was thinking of getting a new bike- and a proper road bike at that- I set his computer up with a couple of links to Specialised- Giant- Trek and a couple of other manufacturers. I also set him up with a link to 50+ and he is impressed with the site- So If you are reading this as a lurker Jon- Register and join us.

But in a way- he paid me a compliment- I showed him my write up in the Rogues gallery. He took one look at the pic and asked if it was my son on the back of the Tandem. He either needs new glasses Or I am looking better than I thought.

So just a reminder to the rest of you- The rogues gallery is there for us to see what the rest of us look like and the type of riding we do. If you haven't visited it yet--Or recently-- well worth a gander to see what DG's new friend has let herself in for.

This reminds me of Chuck Schmidt's mishap a few years ago, in which paramedics underestimated his age (60 at the time) by almost 15 years before they had a chance to look at his driver's license. Cycling is a fountain of youth.

Reminds me of the time I was in a job interview and the interviewer said there was no way I was old enough to have done all of that...

(I had just completed a 1/2 mile swim in a cold ocean before the interview... talk about "cool headed..." )

Got that job BTW.
