What's that.

I stay so active I don't know what a 69.5 year old should feel like. I think I'm in my late 40's or something!!

Riding today then putting new handlebars on the Specialized this afternoon.

LAriverRat 05-09-11 12:41 PM

Taking off some Forte GT2 700c x 25 tires and tubes that came with a Mavic MA40 rims with Dura Ace hubs and putting them on a Trek 400 Elance with Maillard 600 hubs and no name rims. Going to sell the 400 as it is too small for me.
I picked up the Dura Ace hubs with tires/tubes(new) for $45.00 last year.

Went on a nice ride today. It was much cooler and a bit windy at 15 MPH but wasn't much of a factor the direction I was going I didn't have the wind into the face anyway. Going to get a new fit on the bike this week. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/84653341

Getting over the allergies and feeling more like ridding now. There for a while like wasn't much fun. Funny how a little tinny particle of pollen can change your life. Anyway, I had a good ride today, some head winds on the way home but oh well.

It was ~82F (28C) when I got home from my ride yesterday. You gotta move outta that place. ;)

DnvrFox 05-12-11 08:01 AM

Heavy snow just south and west of Denver, some snow at my house (6,000 feet), but it melts upon hitting the ground. Walking/swimming today.

Ibslow 05-12-11 05:03 PM

It was overcast and 40ish out here on the Western Slopes but we did not have wind. I got in a pretty decent 30 mile ride. Of course the Sun came out as soon as I got home. Tomorrow looks like it will be good and I hope to get out by 8 for a longer ride. :)

Did 66 miles today for my Birthday ride. Was sitting on the fence about going. Still recovering for the ER on the 12/13 of this month. Thought i might as well go and try. Glad i did. Did not go very fast, avg 16 mph. Hope to get in more rides.

Phil85207 05-24-11 06:01 PM

LAriverRat Great job That's a good pace.

lapazmike 05-30-11 05:32 PM

Yeah I qualify, still like folk singers.
A little inspiration on getting out on the bike.

My left knee has been bothering me for a few weeks and riding and doing a little at home PT hasn't helped. Feels a lot like my right knee did before the surgery I had a few years ago. :( When I got home from today's ride I called the sports med doc who did knee #1 and made an appointment for a knee checkup. I'll be limping and "suffering" till June 22. Got my fingers crossed. :o
At least riding doesn't aggravate the condition.

I suspect I am old enough at 84 though I may not be entirely welcome as I am presently waiting delivery of an electric bike, a Busettii "Northrock" and it's going to be a "step-through" (used to call them women's bikes). My excuse is that I've not ridden for about 6 years and since then have had a double by-pass plus two dislocated shoulders from downhill skiing accidents. Perhaps I should have gotten a tricycle! Anyway I can't wait for my Busettii to arrive all the way from sunny California to me here in foggy Nova Scotia (Canada). Once it has arrived, if anyone should be interested, I will report from time to time on my progress. My wife, Thelma, is in an electric-power wheelchair so we hope to have wild races through the streets of Halifax at dizzying speeds of anything up to 5 m.p.h..

You are most welcome here. Please share your successes and challenges.

I just visited Halifax - what a beautiful (and hilly) town. An electric assist would be really helpful.

Please join in whenever. We 65+'rs are very tolerant and appreciate anyone who figures out how to ride, no matter the situation.

After nearly a month off the cycle I got to ride today 66 miles. What with some landscaping at home for the wife, and her health issues with COPD, the nebulizer stopped working, then the Oxygen generator went on the fritz, it been a little crazy around here.
Very pleasant day for a ride today, though it did warm a bit, but it was nice to get back on the bike. My legs are letting me know about the layoff though

maddmaxx 06-06-11 04:55 AM

OK, I'm offical. You guys don't look so old now.

Welcome, It's all uphill from here! :)

RonH 06-06-11 01:36 PM

Except for the downhill sections of the road. :)

lapazmike 06-07-11 01:03 AM

@ theri_
As Thema has the a more stable ride, maybe you could mount the video camera on her chair to film you and your new ride through the wilds of Canada. If no video, maybe just some stills. Welcome.
Do you have an annual moose or caribou trek through your area?
