Shimano Nexus 3 - Twist Shift Replace

The "Mechanics Forum" and search hasn't helped on this subject so I thought I'd seek help here.
I want to replace my twist shifter/brake lever for a thumb/trigger/brake model. This is on my Breezer Freedom.

Need an experienced hand to steer me in the right direction.

How lucky are you usually?

Internal gear hubs have a reputation for being real picky about cable pull. You either need to use the shifter that was designed for use with that hub or you need to be real lucky.

Tough question. The "Shimano SL-3S95 Nexus Inter S 3 Speed Shifter" linked in the thread in the Bike Mechanics forum looks like it might be a solution, but it will take some scrounging to find one.
