It's time for this 50+ cyclist to climb that hill

My treatments begin Monday morning. Since I last posted about this, there have been some tough choices made. I had to decide between two doctors recommending different treatment methods. After much research and soul searching, I chose what I believe is the more aggressive plan with the best longterm outlook. It will not be easy, but I might as well take advantage of being in such good health (except for the cancer).

I begin the first of three rounds of induction chemotherapy on Monday morning, repeating every 3 weeks. Next will come several weeks of chemo/radiation therapy. If necessary, there may be some cleanup surgery after that.

I have set up a site at MyLifeline.org to keep family and friends informed and give them a way to leave messages.

The outpouring of support from the 50+ and other BikeForums members has been amazing and has meant a lot to me and my family. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as the I finally get to start fighting back.

On today's ride, I wondered when your treatment begins. You'll be in my prayers. We've all got our hand on your back pushing you up this hill. Great site, will check back often.

Sounds like you made the right choice BD.

You're as tough as they come, I have a good feeling about the outcome of all this. My thoughts are with you.

Nothing about your choice surprises me. That cancer is going to rue the day it invaded BD.

I like that. From what I've seen, those are some quality miles.

Don't envy your ride today- but keep turning the pedals. And plan the recovery ride now.

Good luck.

Your choice for an aggressive treatment plan doesn't surprise me, BD

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was just thinking of you, while I was riding yesterday. I have 2 very close friends that got cancer. First him then his wife. She was taking care of him and then she got it. Anyway she starts her treatment today as well and he has been on it for a few months now. Anyway, he is doing great and I'm sure you will as well. They found out it's best, to be very aggressive and the best way to beat this thing. Anyhow my thought and prays are with you. It'll be tough, but you'll make it.

FWIW, I think you've made the right choice by electing the most agressive treatment.

Hang tough BD !
