Shaving Leg ?
I am participating in a Duathlon tomorrow and was thinking about shaving my legs for the first time. I have no real reason to do it other than I look like a woolly mammoth in bike shorts. I was about to do it and my wife starting telling about all the evils of shaving your legs i.e. the first time you do it your legs will itch uncontrollably, when you sweat they will burn/itch etc.
What is you guys experience?
Thanks

My worthless opinion: It's only hair and it's no big deal.
If you think you might get a kick outa shaving your legs then by all
means go right ahead and shave them. You might then decide to
either continue to shave for the balance of the season or not.
Stubble on your legs really seems to me like no big deal and unless
you've got real sensitive skin I doubt you'll suffer from itching
etc. and what are we talking here...just between the knees and
ankles? Go for it.
If you're really concerned try shaving after the race so as not to risk
upsetting your race due to any discomfort. I've shaved mine in the
past and it's really nothing, nadda, no big deal. If you think you might
gain a psychological advantage, then you should definitly shave.
But like I said, it's only hair.

My legs will look like I've shaved them pretty soon.
The chemo is taking that along with most of the rest of the hair on my body. I've shaved my face and my head now to keep it from looking so scraggly, but I think I'll just let the legs do what they will. But you never know. I may decide to come out of this as a shaver.

By now it's too late for advice. But I never had a problem with shaving my legs -- except for the groin area. That part doesn't show from under bike shorts, but when I shave there, I chafe for a week! If you don't want to go all the way shaving, the next step back from that is to take the hair clipper set on its shortest setting and give your legs a 'butch.'

FWIW: Shaving is no big deal. I always did when I raced and sometimes do now. As I get older I seem to have less leg hair and it seems to grow in in silly looking places, (like a "beard" just below the knee). Lately I tend to get lazy and let it grow out until I get sick of how it looks when it grows in. I only shave the part that shows in shorts (running or bike).
