Camera mount for bike
I know they must exist- but not over on this side of the pond.
I have a camera- and a lightweight Video camera- and I want to be able to fit it on my bike. There must be an adaptor sold by someone to fit a camera to the bars of a bike- but Who? And where? There was a Helmet mount available but they are no longer stocked by the two online stores that used to sell them due to Them breaking. Couple of claims put in for lost cameras- and the shops no longer stock them. So any got any leads on where I can get one? |

Here's an idea from one of Sheldon Brown's bikes

stapfam,
These folks have some very high end stuff for the video industry and probably have something that can be adapted......for a price. http://store.zacuto.com/ These clamps are versatile and can probably can be found in the UK...........but weigh almost a pound. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ml#accessories Here is something else that may be more like what you are looking for...... http://shop.helmetcameracentral.com/HERO-MK-RIDE.html This is certainly a clever and inexpensive mount...... http://www.knick-knack.com/howto/mot...era-mount.html |

Have you looked at this?

Consider the Ultrapod products. I have an Ultrapod (standard) which works well as a very portable mini tripod, and could attach to bars or stems with the included velcro strap. It would not be so good for a heavy camera and rough roads, as it is pretty lightweight.

You want cheap? This one is made from a reflector mount like you'll find on any new bicycle. Get them for free from the trash can at any LBS.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Bicycle-Camera-Mount-for-under-$1/ I made one and it works OK, if a little shaky. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluesda...7606081501473/ |
Thanks for the ideas- Have a couple of spare HRM mounts I could adapt so many thanks.

Stapfam,
I use a Cannon Power Shot A590 on our rides. Got the brainstorm to modify a Cateye headlight mount to hold the camera on the handlebars. I have a big memory card that will hold a long movie with the camera. So one day the wife and I do the MUP into Philly. Once home I drop the movie into the computer. Then tried to watch it on the computer. Gads!!! All sorts of vibration. Then the little course corrections with the handlebars show up in the movie. After watching it for 5 minutes I felt as if I were getting motion sickness. It taught me how much vibration is dampened out by the seat and one's spine. |
