Becoming Bionic, one screw at a time

Here's a link to an update and photos.

The Ultrasound treatments make my hand tingle. I like to think that that means it's working, although I have no hard facts to support my instinct.

Riding today was glorious. I've done some trainer rides -- I'm going to move the bike and trainer onto my patio so I can escape the cave-like feeling my garage delivers -- but getting out and hitting the familiar roads was freeing.

I suspect we'll do some more tweaking of my arm rest while we work on getting our speed and endurance back. It's a good fix, meanwhile.

From: 6 miles inland from the coast of Sussex, in the South East of England

Bikes: Dale MT2000. Bianchi FS920 Kona Explosif. Giant TCR C. Boreas Ignis. Pinarello Fp Uno.

Then there is always the Tandem.

About time you got out there and found out if the Comment of "She's not pedalling" could have a hint of truth in it.

Glad to see you are recovering and hope the pain doesn't bother you too much. But I suppose moving the trainer out to the patio is a step in the right direction. Just don't push it too hard too soon.

Bikes: Diamondback Clarity II frame homebuilt.

Put a small wedge under the back of the trainer so your rides will be downhill and more pleasent........

Then hurry up and get better.

Best of luck with all of that. I feel for you.

Getting older sure does suck at times.

Red Rider. Hope your recovery will be satisfactory. Glad to see you're not giving up. Not long ago , I posted a thread about a riding buddy who fell on a descent. He broke a femur.. Today, I learned it was a big time femur. Right at the socket.. He'll be off work for at least 6 weeks..
.. I am not a fast descent person. To the consternation of my club. When I fell I ripped my roto cuff big time.. Compared to Patrick's femur socket, guess what is a rotor cuff...
Hope Patrick will be able to "get back on the horse. " his horse being or had been a brand new road bike.. I suspect if Patrick does , he'll be last one down the mountain as is my habit..
After a big fall, speed just seems less fun; when it puts at greater risk our love of the bike.

I feel for you and your friend, CZ. When you crash & break something it's still a traumatic event; don't shortchange your injury because it's not a femur. Sure, your/my/Patrick's injuries could be worse -- but we're still injured, recovering, and dealing with the mental aspects of what happened.

My crash occurred on a flat road, so I have no hill to blame. Just human error.

I first did the Solvang Century in 1989 and did it 8 more times after that, mostly because my friends were doing it. I've done a bunch of organized stuff but after seeing all the carnage and crazy riding I am a lot more careful about the rides I pick. I was doing the Cool Breeze, (Ventura area), every year but after last year the crashes have turned me off to it.
There is a club down here that has centuries 3 times a year that are great. Everyone is careful and the food is the best! Solvang was always lacking in the food variety, although recent descriptions make it sound better than years ago.
For food, the SLOBC rides are good, too. The Lighthouse used to have a chocolate fondue at the last rest, along with a great lunch spread that included hot drinks and hot ollalberry pie!
Anyway, heal fast!

Red. I always think speed intensifies the damage..?.. But, hands are quite vunerable. My reaction was similar to yours. The Dr. wanted me off the bike.. No.. I was on the bike (trainer) with a sling about my right shoulder.

Red Rider,

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. The story of what happened is really sobering. Some of the goings-on at organized events are really sobering....
