2cam16 Absolutely, as I chuckle to myself. Nothing definite but my brother needs a bike so I'll yet him decide between my cruiser with coaster brake or my Gravity that doesn't fit me right. If he wants the Gravity Dutch then the Trek will become my backup bike. The Trek impressed me already. Very comfortable. Seems to be geared nice because I found it wanting to go. 7 gears in the rear. 3 up front. Took me a bit to get used to twist shifters. These are my first. I went straight from friction to trigger shifters. :) Not hating the grip shifters though but not my first choice. HUGE bonus that took me by surprise. The ad said 26" wheels. NOPE 700c's

Yeah those early hybrids were great bikes. I had a Specialized Crossroads about the same era as yours. 700c's. Turned it into a dropbar gravel bike. Upped it to 9 speeds with 105 drivetrain. Had a blast with it for a couple of years then realized I didn't really need a gravel bike so I turned it back to stock and sold it. lol
Looks like yours was switched to Gripshift asI believe that should have still been the trigger like my Crossroads. I'm not a fan of grips. Just not my thing specially the cable routing. Enjoy the bike though!

I'm not a fan of twist shifting so far. I'll ride it as is for now and learn to use it because who knows I might need to know that skill in the future. 😆 Ya right. I know trigger shifters are not expensive so most likely I'll keep my eye out for some Shimano triggers. With my new Sirrus filling my everyday needs I doubt the Trek will be more than a rainy day bike but I did find it comfortable in riding so far.
Rob I live out in Tracy and I see that you can ride along side the California Aqueduct. It runs a good distance. I've been thinking of trying it up to the Bethany Reservoir. I've read it's paved but I'll bet not real smooth. I should drive over and take a walk to see what me and the bike would encounter.

Rode the Sirrus and beginning to think I might like a slightly shorter stem with a 22° rise. Currently have a 80mm long 7°rise. I'll need to see what's out there first.

I did get out and do a very short ride 11.5 mile ride due to having pick up my granddaughter from the school bus and getting out of work at 12:45. But the weather was beautiful today. All week the high temps have been in the 40's here. I have not wanted to ride. I am now ready for the cooler temp riding.

I was able to get out and get a 21 mile ride in this morning. The weather was nice at about 47f degrees and cloudy but not windy. I rode a route backwards that I have done recently.

Squeezed in a Six mile ride around the neighborhood on my Specialized Hardrock SS conversion once it warmed up , before my favorite football team’s game started

I mixed it up a bit today. Decided to put some mileage on the 2 latest additions and ride my Sirrus last, one after another. No breaks other than swapping bikes and mapping another ride using Ride with GPS. Phone in my pocket. Decided to stay within a few miles just incase.
First I rode the Trek MultiTrack. Also figured I would leave the 2 bikes with front gears in the middle gear. Pretty much rode the same route each time. I must admit I am impressed with the MultiTrack. Comfortable bike(except the seat is rock hard) that shifts smooth and accurate. Pretty nice handling. Little harsh through the tires. Will need to fiddle with the psi. Really surprised how easy it is to find just the right gear. Even rode no handed to see how balance me and the bike were. Perfect... 6.1 quick miles.
Second up was the newest addition to the herd. A Specialized Alibi. Bought for parts but seemed to good to cannablize. This bike is comfortable(except again the seat sucks). Off I went. Forgot to mention it was pretty breezy. Well I hated the gearing. Need to see what it has and go from there. Tires have got to go. The front is the OEM airless. No thanks. Shifts smooth and accurate. Cut this ride short. 3.4 miles
Last was my everyday ride. Specialized Sirrus X 3.0. Love this bike. Nimble as all get out. BUT I am reminded that I'm leaning on the bars a bit too much. 5 miles no problem. 10 miles and I'm alternating arms shaking the blood back into my fingers. Rode 5.4 miles today. Total comes to 14.9 miles. Wonder what the neighbors were thinking about my little comparision test:lol: They must be use to me by now.
Got to admit I had fun. Very impressed with the 30+ year old Trek MultiTrack.

I did ride today. 15.2 miles. Stayed in town and included the multi use Sycamore Trail. Rode the Sirrus.

I've ridden 5 out of the last 6 mornings as I'm loving my 1st carbon bike, and will be heading out again this morning at 8. The 1st ride of this stretch came from a Saturday organized ride to honor Veterans with the fitting name of the Hell & Back ride, because the turn-around point is Purgatory Road for the longest route. That definately fits the benefit ride because many vets have been to Hell & Back - Happy Veterans Day to those who have served !

Also the Saturday ride was on my 66th birthday and daughter Liz was home for the week

A heavier bike with 26” wheels rolling knobbies is a better workout than a lightweight roadie on 25mm. For the same distance traveled. And in cooler temps (40’s-low 50*s) maybe the slower speed & greater effort is a blessing.

Forty eight degrees this morning. Wife thinks I'm crazy, especially since it was a bit windy. But I dressed for the chill and did twenty miles. My only issue was that the ride was out and back and of course the wind was against me on the way home. Nothing like an uphill into the wind. Invigorating for sure.

Good ride today. Rode my southern, in town route that turns west into a subdivision with beautiful asphalt streets. :speedy:. Blue shies and only a light breeze. An even 16 miles. 99% of drivers were courteous and friendly. One dummy. I'm beginning to recognize some of the walkers and runners that use the multi use Sycamore Trail. Today I came upon a lady pushing a stroller and two very young children. I had slowed to about as slow as I could go. One little one went left up on to the side walk. The second went the opposite direction towards the creek.(it's dry now). Mom is on the asphalt trail with the stroller. I couldn't not laugh. Poor lady had a handful. I ended up coming to a complete stop so she could round up the kids. She seemed to take it all in stride.

Needed to leave the cage at the shop, so at least I got in a ride yesterday and today for ten miles or so. First time I’ve ridden, I think, since July.

About 18 miles on bike trails in approximately 1.5 hr; a very pleasant sunny day at 54F.
About half of the distance is paved, the rest is packed dirt. Until a few weeks ago, last of wild flowers (golden rods) were still there but now everything is gone to seeds.
Soon we will have snow and the area will turn white for anywhere 3-4 months, with a beauty of its own - very peaceful and serene!

Today's weather met my requirements - dry, over 50, wind under 15 mph. Actually, it was sunny and in the high 50s this morning; wind was 13 from the N or NW, so going out (N for me) was tough and going home was a lot easier.

19+ miles, 995 for the year so far.

Finally I can play in this pool. I did get out and ride today. Though the ride was only 5.4 miles. I used my bike as transportation not joy riding. But really any time I ride is joy riding. So I got my errands done by bike. I will be looking for more opportunities to ride this week.

I made my seasonal move to Tucson last week and resurrected my '83 Trek 520 from storage. I replaced the headset with the help of a good mechanic, Benjy, at the BICAS co-op. I had to mill the fork down to meet the "new" 26.4 mm spec, and they had the tool. Shop and tool time cost me $12, the high end of the their sliding scale. That was the last original moving part on the 40 year-old bike. I was not sad to see it go.

Yesterday I took a shake-down cruise, the 55-mile Tucson Loop trail, a mostly flat asphalt path around the city. It's still a little early for the hordes of winter visitors so it was mostly empty. A stiff wind made half it it tough, half of it a breeze, so to speak. The city does a good job of maintaining the asphalt, a challenge in the desert. It was a good ride. I'll pick a calmer day for an attempt at Mt Lemmon.

Night ride last night and rode up on a 12 point buck. I had to stop as we had that 'deer in the headlights' thing going on while it slowly sauntered off the road. It's a lonely stretch of road where it's not uncommon to see coyotes, varmints, and sometimes even a cougar or bear or at least the scat on the road. 35 miles on a moonless night. Love my new lights

I hope you ride with a friend, who is slightly slower than you - very useful for self-preservation. 😉

I was able to get out and ride this morning. I waited till 8:30 when the weather warmed up a little and the temp was 43f degrees with bright blue skies. I rode for a 21 mile jaunt.

Managed a shortish run at my 'challenge' hill yesterday. May be the last chance I get to ride this year, weather's changing fastly towards winter.

Strava tells me that, despite not having done any real riding in the last couple of months, the gearing changes I made to my MB GR are worth the effort.

Last run up that .7 mile hill saw 4.7 mph avg. w/max @ 6.5. Yesterday's time was 4.9 avg., max 8.6. Heart zone went from 78.9% Z2, 7.2% Z3 to 61.2% Z2, 31.8% Z3. It was about 60° & WINDY, gusting to close to 40 up on the ridge tops on both sides. Bottom to top it's 255 ft uphill. Fortunate that this route only has a brief stretch right at the top that's up out of the coulee or I'd have been blown off the route:

(Side note my 'alarm clock' app tells me, my heart beat to a low of 47 BPM overnight. Never been that low before, usually around 49-50. Gonna get back in to lap swimming soon at local indoor pool my Dr clued me into. Been a decade since I've done any swimming at all, just as with the biking up until last spring. Maybe it'll help me meet the challenges in next spring's improved weather after winter heads back north for a few months....)
