I've been watching out for a curbside treasure MTB when riding my car. I'm hoping to find an old MTB to use to pull my ice fishing shanty next winter. Some lakes don't allow motorized vehicles and walking and pulling the shanty plus equipment a couple miles is too hard or makes me sweat too much. I'll put studded tires on it and get some training while riding out to fish.:thumb: |
Just got back from a week ride of 250 miles and I did another 45 today mostly hills and against the wind I'm going to bed.

Today was our assault against Mt. Diablo.
14 miles climbing, 3783' elevation gain. I don't know how long it took us but the speed was of no consequence; summiting the last 200 yds. of ~18% grade was all that counted. We did it and are very satisfied with our effort. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...opofDiablo.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...opofDiablo.jpg From the top you can see more land mass than any other mountain save for Fuji-san in Japan. The fog and air pollution prevented our seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, Mt. Lassen, and the Sierra. We were willing to overlook the lack of overlook because we were happy to have made it to the top. |

Rode 11 street miles on my MTB to pick up my car that I left at a bar last nite. Got a ride home with a friend's wife picking his drunk ass up.
BTW I had always heard Kilimanjaro was the leader in visible land mass over Diablo. I believe it's not relly second though. |
Red Rider,
I was at the top of Diablo just a couple of weeks ago, got this picture at the same place as yours. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k8...9sAtthetop.jpg We're going after Mt. Hamilton on the 19th. |

A standard Monday morning club ride, 52 miles. There were a few hills and I made the decision not to let anyone get away from me. I was proud of myself for keeping up every time. The entire ride was a bit "up pace" from our usual.

Ham trip wasn't on a Wed.; we'd love to ride with you guys, having never done that mountain. Guess what just made my "bucket list"? ;) |
I got out during my daughter's gymnastics session today for 40 miles, 2800' climbing in 2:18 ride time. I flatted 1 mile before the gym, pinched my spare tube under the tire bead and had to walk to the car. :( Actually, I caught a ride the last quartermile. Beautiful day for a ride, low 80s and breezy.

gees you top guns think us wanabees will do anything for the press:winter2:

No ride this morning for me. Got gout attack but I drove to the LBS to get my flat fixed again and hopefully, it's last. Didn't get a chance to shop for a new bike though. Maybe next time I have a flat. LOL

We spent the day at Seneca Falls so...just a slow (7.5mph) after dinner cruise around the "Hood" . Didn't even bother with the helmet & gloves. Only 3.23 very peaceful miles.

On the home front, I got in 46 miles with 5 other guys on one great day to ride. We planned to ride a recovery ride but there were hills and some sprints. Race season is closing and I'll soon be back doing group rides with my bud's again.:thumb: |

Nope ..Glasses broke at work so I had to stop and get new ones on the way home and then when I got home I looked at front yard and thought it sure needed mowing so I did that.( along with back and sides too)
2 days in a row I have not ridden. Sad. I WILL ride today though. |
Predicting strong thunder storms late today...I'm tired of getting pelted with rain and strong winds....drove my S-10 to work today (air conditioning, music, wipers, dry, but I don't get to lean back and relax as much as on the bike......sigh, the sacrifices we have to endure..... :()

Hey RR, aren't you expecting a headache on the 19th?
Our kids are coming into town tonight and our son wants to ride the club ride with me tonight on his fixie...I'm really excited about that. We've ridden with our daughter (6 leisurely miles) but not with our son. And in a group, no less! Report and pics will follow. |

I love seeing this...I've been shooting for 20 miles a day with the kids and 40 miles a day, solo, on the weekends. Now I don't feel as though I'm OCD or something. ;)
