Did you ride today?

Not riding today because of the wind: 20-30 with gusts to 40 mph! Forecast is for 5-10 mph winds tomorrow. I've suffered enough this week off the bike.

Grave, it was inside this little house/shed, sort of weird if you ask me

Old Glory at the Harley Dealer close by and yes I was riding into that headwind

Just a small part of the country roads I ride on

We intended to ride the medium/20 mile route on today's club ride in the farmlands to the northeast of Indy but because we weren't paying attention coupled with a glitch on the Dan Henrys and a glitch on the map ---> we ended up riding 32.5 miles. Far and away our longest ride yet on the new tandem. In spite of backtracking and significant windy conditions, it was a great ride.
We both are glad we invested in the Screamer.

Did the Tour de Mesa today. The last mountain was a killer with the head winds at 10+ and being near the end. Temps got up there too. Cadence quit for some reason. https://connect.garmin.com/activity/76753916

I haven't ridden since the Withlacoochee Clear Air Ride (in Florida) on March 19. Those warm temps spoiled me.
Today it got up to the low 60s (17C) so I headed out. Strong cross winds and head winds for most of the ride. Did a whopping 29 miles.

35 miles in 40f weather with a 15-20 mph wind. I'm still dressed in layers. Todays time of 2:11 of continuous riding felt solid for this early in the year.

52 miles on the tandem with temps ranging from low 50's (0700) to 60 or so when we finished. This is a ride or variant thereof that we do frequently so the average speed is a good measure of fitness. For the time being our strength is increasing faster than our age. Won't last forever, however!

My ride today was hot and great.
Miles today: 55
Mileage this month: 55
Mileage this year: 2063
Over/under riding days this year vs. last year: -1 day
Over/under miles this year vs. last year: +197 miles
Average miles per ride this year: 35
Average miles per ride this month: 55
Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 4936
Great weather this morning, 57⁰F when I left home and 79⁰F when I got back. Met my friend at the San Sebastian Trail Head at 9:30 this morning and we rode out the Seminole Wekiva Trail (which was pretty clean due to the cleanup crews blowing away the debris from Wednesday’s rain and 60 mph wind gusts. We stopped at Panera Bread in Lake Mary and had a bagel and coffee. From there we rode north through Heathrow which is a beautiful ride then headed on out to Deer Path (horse farm country). The return trip was very nice with a slight tail wind most of the way. I am off to a good start this month but I will need all of the help that I can get. My mileage in April 2010 was 786 miles.
The beautiful day brought out a lot of people today.

34 miles, close to 80 degrees (F), started out with a impromptu club rides, then over to the LBS to get the wife's bike 250 mile adjustments. Then just headed out, sunny, windy but it felt great to ride in "short's and short sleeves" again!!
Saw more "recumbents" today than I've seen in the last 3 months, even the elusive "Recumbent Tandem"! Lot's of "classic" bikes too, a really nice early spring day brings em all out!

First ride of the season for me up here in cold Montana( 4/2/11). Rode thirty miles, the last half of which was into the teeth of gale force winds. cold again today, so no riding till the temperature gets up into the low 60s. I'm still skiing.

35 miles on a club ride today in 25-30mph winds. Sheesh! One nice long stretch with a tailwind flying along at 23-25mph but then another long stretch the other direction into the wind barely able to maintain 8-9mph. On a positive note, it was dry and 70F by the end.
Theoretically, I have an aero advantage into the wind on a recumbent, but it's still a nasty headwind.

Great weather this morning, 63⁰F when I left home and 81⁰F when I got back this afternoon. Did my usual ride out the Seminole Wekiva Trail and stopped at Panera Bread in Lake Mary and had my usual bagel and coffee. From there I rode north on International Blvd to 46A then west to Orange then out to Deer Path (horse farm country). All of the ranches seemed to have all of the little colts out today. Today I saw 1 deer 2 bald eagles 4 adult Sand Hill Cranes and 2 babies, about 6 buzzards (boy was the air quality bad around them). The return trip was back down Orange Blvd to Sylvan Lake road then west to the trail head. Had a very slight tail wind most of the way home. I am off to a good start this month with a 105 miles done already but I will need all of the help that I can get. My mileage in April 2010 was 786miles.
The beautiful day brought out a lot of people to the trail but once I hit the horse farm country I was all by myself. Today would have been a good day to take the camera with all of the wild life.
Earlier this week while sitting at Panera Bread a young girl with a Team USA cycling kit and a very expensive bike sat down about two tables from me and was taking a break. I recognized her from some photos on the USA Team web site so as I was leaving I stopped to talk with her about her racing career. Her name was on her bike so I made note of it then promptly forgot it (old age I think). Today as I was sitting at Panera a woman and her husband that I know casually from the Free Wheelers Bike Club walked passed my table and we made some small conversation. As they were leaving I asked them if they knew the girls name on the USA Team, turns out it is their daughter. Not only is she a good cyclist and representing the USA all over the globe but she only has one more year to complete her engineering degree at The University of Florida. Her mother and father were very proud of her and justly so.

The story about the young lady on the USA team was cool.
I am surprised no turtle sightings. Start taking your camera I like wildlife shots even though some may hard to get.

It's been a month since I managed to get in a decent ride. First, I was away to Mexico for some R & R without a bike, though I did manage to swim 1500 meters each day
Then, the day after I get home I get a nasty respiratory infection that I'm just now getting over - 1 more day of antibiotics. The month of March was quite a setback to my cycling. No matter, today I managed to get out for 29 sunny but blustery miles on the road bike. No problems with the bike but my legs have no strength. Every climb had me down-shifting more than usual, and average speed was down to just over 13mph
It was particularly good to see lots of other cyclists out enjoying the spring sun. Rafters were enjoying the Spokane river, and there were a lot of parents out walking children along the river too. With this weather time on the rollers and stationary trainer are pretty much over till Oct./Nov. brings cold and wet. Ah spring!

I rode 56 miles today and it was tough.
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/77083640
My butt was sore after only 33 miles, and I don't know why. I did a 71 mile ride six days ago, and I was comfortable until the last few miles.
