Kinda cool today, but dry. Twenty mile ride - really booking it on the first half - impressing myself with my speed. Then headed back in and realized a tailwind had been helping me along.

Bike shop 2 miles from my home has a Sat 7:30 AM ride for New road riders.
I went last week and we had one Lady riding 10-13 mph.

Owner said I could lead the ride if he failed to make it.

He failed today and three guys with new carbon frame road bikes showed up.
Rolling I find out they are all three from a BMX Racing Team.

How do you say Rocket Sprinters...Whiz Zoom Zoom Gone.
Great guys kicked my 70 y/o butt.

52 miles Friday, 51 miles today

It's just me but I think that Cannondale looks sharp. I would guess you could hold off the BMXers on a ride more than 30 miles unless they had been road riding already. BMX seems like the ultimate fast-twitch sport.

Just got home from this weekends MS 150. What a great ride, but the weather caused some changes to happen. We were suppose to have some really bad thunder storms with up to 2 inches of rain on Saturday and even worst today. They closed the 100 mile route because of the time the storms were going to reach us, so everyone did the 50 mile rides each day. Wouldn't you know it, not a single drop of rain on Saturday's ride and clear blue skies on today's ride. All-in-all, it was a great weekend with the cycling team and a really wonderful two days of riding.

I learned that you can indeed seriously cross-chain a recumbent, having inadvertently shifted into a big ring to big cog situation. The read der made a very sick sound, unnerving enough to lead to a dismount until I figured out what I had done. As it was on a hill, I had a bit of a walk until I was able to get underway.

Otherwise it was a good ride. 30 miles and change, no Starbucks stop.

The weather finally cooperated this weekend with 73F on Saturday and 82F today. Had to take advantage and ride both days. Saturday's ride was 43 miles and today was 58 miles.

It was misting heavily this morning and I didn't feel like dealing with wet roads so I headed to the gym and did 24 miles on a spin bike. I need to find some sort of sweat-proof earphones for my iPod.

100 degrees F by noon, so riding time is early AM in Phoenix, AZ now. The heat dictates when the ride is done...

I rode a century Saturday at the BRAG Spring Tune Up. The weather was great despite a forecast of rain and thunderstorms. Saturday night a strong wind started and continued into a cooler Sunday morning, so I stayed in my tent and slept late and then broke camp and drove home. I did do a short dirt road ride Sunday afternoon at home.

We were scheduled to do the century on our MS 150 ride as well. That same front came through Florida and the organizers closed down the century route. I was really looking forward to doing it again this year, but 50 miles is better than no miles.

23 miles today. I kept delaying to try and miss the rain and wet roads. When the forecast looked good I went for it. Well, what do you know--last 1/4 of my ride was in the rain. Lost my ear cover after stuffing it the Jersey pocket...the skull cap was still there, but the ear band wasn't. Spent 15 minutes wiping down the bike after getting home and re-lubing the chain(I re-lubed it yesterday too---that must've brought the rain on me).

Ride in front of a big fan. A good hard headwind won't hurt you on a spin bike.(-0

Did my first 100 miler of the year on Sunday.
Bitterly cold to start, had to ride with clenched fists to stop my fingers freezing. Two hours later it was fine and sunny, but still cold enough to warrant thermals, jersey, gilet and warmers.
Love the steady solo tons.

Got in a good 30 mile ride this morning, despite some really strong headwinds. Weatherman says sunny, cool and windy mornings with dry, hot afternoons for the rest of the week. They were really wrong for this past weekend. Let's see how close they come to getting this weeks forecast right.

23 miles, added more hills than normal and the headwind was rough, still 80F+ and sunny, I'll take it!

I left about 3:30 AM so I could beat the heat a little. These are some pictures of the dawn slowly coming up. I hope this works OK, I'm not sure of what I am doing here. I love ridding in the night with the peace and quietness. Notice the temps. difference for the first 40 miles or so. Until it warmed up the difference was sometimes as much as 20 degrees. It felt like riding into an icebox sometimes. I seems I can only put up thumbnails and not full size photos. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
