Did half of the CASA Century in Shepherdstown, WV. This was only my fifth ride after being off the bike for a month with emergency abdominal surgery. Wow, I have a long way to go before I get back to the conditioning I was in before the surgery. Still the ride was great. A beautiful day, with lots of beautiful people.

Had a nice 18 mile ride to work and back for bike to work week . Start riding home from work Monday.
35 miles and my best avg to date for that distance, 17.1mph avg.
107 miles with 6700' of climbing yesterday...I'm thinking maybe I will not ride today!
Got out fairly early this morning and put in a little under 30 miles. Perfect riding weather here in southeast CT today, saw quite a few bikes this morning. I usually don't see all that many around here. Most of the people i saw were on Rt. 49 in North Stonington, a real nice road to ride.

Yesterday. 82 miles with 10,200 feet of climbing. Great weather and views along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Had a great 15 mile ride today. Great weather in west Texas, 84 sunny and a little wind.
I did a half century plus 6 miles for a pie ride today. :D See the "I gotta brag" thread for details.

We did about 56 miles today on the tandem, the middle-distance loop of the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen's Plymouth Century. Added to our 45 yesterday it's another 100-mile weekend.
It was great to see more unknown countryside. Sometimes you find unexpected treats! Like this great place for a picnic, at the intersection of rts 79 and 140: http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/Star_DriveIn.jpg Or this little park on the banks of the Taunton River (beside a bridge under construction, with one lane open and a separate sidewalk for bikes and pedestrians): http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...nton_River.jpg |
I remember that one lane bridge that was under construction. Just about then I was beginning to get a bit punchy and sore. A most excellent ride. I am very impressed by the way the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen can put together such a fine ride in the midst of the Eastern Megalopolis corridor. Those folks know what they are doing.
My anti cramping measures today was a concoction of artisan, bread rolls with a filling of natural peanut butter and bananas. Very tasty and effective. |

...the first half of which was a recovery ride, the second half of which turned out to be a hammerfest, as we wound up in the middle of the returning Gran Fondo New York pack and had to escape from their mayhem. |

65 miles on the tandem with 4100' of climbing on the Strawberry Fields Forever organized ride (started in Aptos, CA). This is a very nice ride with great rest stops, the first being at the Calfee plant, but it's tougher on a tandem than the total climbing would indicate: some steep pitches and very little flat to get in a rhythm. Cramped at about 50 miles I think due to lack of salt so I'll carry salt salt tables just in case there are no salty snacks at the stops.

Ten flat miles this evening after watching the Pacers lose to the Heat.
Got in 28 miles this morning before I hit my yard work. Beautiful weather in the Hudson Valley.

Fun day on the bike -- some new routes for me as well as reconnecting with sarals and her bf and achieving my longest ride of the year. Details here.
That doesn't even begin to describe how much fun we had...for sure a good time! |
18 miles again, testing out the homeward commute . Better times this time around .
Our first day of weather warm enough to not wear long sleeves and long pants. Did 30 miles with a good headwind which became a good tailwind. I started from home today which is on a hill 700' above the city and have to bike back up at the end. Today was a no stress easy ride, stopping at a grocery store for some coconut water and a snack.

65 on Saturday (which included the Honor Ride in Phoenix), and 37 solo yesterday
35 miles this morning starting at 5:30 AM. I had my best overall avg ever, 17.6mph. Not only was this my best overall avg, but it was for 35 miles. Only in the last couple of weeks have I been doing 32~35 miles per day, 6 days a week--before I was doing 23 miles each day 6 days a week.
Today was Bike to Work Day, wasn't it? I did - 20 miles.
20 windy miles this evening. Will probably take a couple of days off for some fellowship with friends and some good blues music on Thursday. This weekend though is Memorial days I and I get to get back on the bike! :D
22 miles around Apex, NC with folks from The Bicycle Chain (LBS). Great day, fine folks.
Not my first choice, but a flat tire inspired this.
