7.5 miles in 30 minutes.

Andy Stanton 05-25-12 03:50 PM

It was hot and very humid today and I didn't sleep well last night. But about 1 pm I felt the urge to get on my bike and did 4 1/2 miles, including some tough hills. I was sweating like mad when I came home but I felt great. I think I'm addicted.

Mort Canard 05-25-12 04:12 PM

Spent my ride time in the middle of amber waves of grain. The wheat is getting ripe here in Kansas and there are golden fields everywhere. I put in 24 miles.

bjjoondo 05-25-12 04:45 PM

7.1 miles after a bit of ride on the city bus to pick up my Allegro 1 from the LBS. Chilly, brisk wind so I just headed to the apartment.

jimmuller 05-25-12 05:28 PM

Did my 25-mile round trip commute today on the Bianchi. Very humid but otherwise nice!

A good day today. For something different, I drove to a small town (pop. 400) that's about 15 miles away and set out from there. It was a little cool (58 degrees), but no wind (no wind is very rare here in the spring), and the road was pretty smooth. I rode 32 miles over slightly rolling terrain. I averaged 21 mph for the last 16 miles, which for me is a quantum leap over my usual time/speed. Based on previous rides, I imagine it will be quite a while before I can repeat that effort.

Only a 3 mile ride to test the bike after the repair at the LBS...all is good.

toad350 05-26-12 09:05 AM

Did a 17.2 loop in the country here in west Texas. Really humid but cool temps. 15 mph wind. Great ride today.

Mort Canard 05-26-12 11:52 AM

Morning ride of 30miles. Starting to get hot and humid even at 7:00AM.

I'm with you, I feel like I am addicted as well. If I don't ride (rain, etc) I feel antsy. Hey, but this is a good addiction.

When I used to run (I suppose it applies to cycling as well) I would have days when I just didn't feel like running. Those days I went anyways and had a blast. I once rode with a brutal headache and it went away during the ride. Cycling is a great stress reliever.

I rode my usual 7.5 miles at 30 minutes. I have rode every day in May except for one day when it rained.

I got in 30 miles this morning at the MUP. Thanks to my fantastic wife who gave up her Saturday ride so I can use her trike. She even drove me there and picked me up when I was done. Still can't use the right arm to steer, so I had to keep the speed around 15 mph in order to keep it steady with the left arm. Great ride!

GlennR 05-26-12 03:17 PM

Got up early and did 56 miles. I came back a different way and unfortunately it was very hilly. Eat my legs up and had to take a 10 minute break. I averaged 15.6mph and if it was all flat it would of been more like 17mph average.

Damn... am i sore.

We did 45 humid/wet miles on the tandem, Concord, Carlisle, Westford, up the Bruce Freeman to Chelmesford, back into Carlisle, over to Bedford, then Lexington, then back to Concord. As we were loading the bike back into the car another car pulled up and parked beside up, and the driver gets out and starts telling us how they'd taught their daughters to ride on a tandem, how they toured the Netherlands, etc. Tandems make everyone friendly!

First ride of the summer and boy howdy was I fast. I had to pull over to some guy's house and borrow his garden hose because my Kevlar-lined tires were catching fire.

Just returned from an out of state funeral, so the ride was a pleasant change of pace. Passed several cook outs, and I wanted to pull over for reasons other than borrowing their garden hoses ;). 18 therapeutic miles. I'd like to ride maybe with my oldest daughter tomorrow and maybe a club ride on Memorial Day. I need to find a flag to fly off my bike out of respect for those who gave it all for our freedoms.

My brother and I did 90 miles with 8000 ft of climbing in the NC/SC mountains.. It was humid and close to 90 degrees the last couple hours. Tough going.

Red Rider 05-26-12 06:52 PM

Out early, unusually cool, to ride with some of my race teammates. Good training, fast single and double pacelines, with a few regroup areas and some sprints for grins. They did another 24 mi. loop but we bailed a couple miles before then. Great fun.

56 miles at the Muncie half-Ironman course in the unseasonably sweltering heat this morning.

qcpmsame 05-26-12 07:21 PM

Rode yesterday and today in the heat we are having, 95° both days on my thermometer. Humidity was around 85% and higher so got a good sweat up riding. Enjoyed every minute of it, it is so great to be back riding!

An easy 11 miles in the gawdawful heat/humidity this afternoon. At least I had a breeze, unlike the two guys who finished painting our house today.

RaymondK43 05-27-12 10:01 AM

I rode for an hour today, 13.75 miles.

GlennR 05-27-12 10:52 AM

I did a 10 mile "recovery" ride after yesterday's 56 mile hilly ride.

BikeWNC 05-27-12 12:11 PM

I met a friend this morning for a 50 mile ride from town up the BRP. It was my first ride in 3 weeks due to a family trip to DisneyWorld and my daughter's gymnastics schedule and shows. We took it easy on the way up the almost 25 mile climb to the highpoint on the Parkway. There was a bit more traffic than we are used to but being a holiday weekend it really wasn't very much. A few very loud motorcycles though I could have done without. The climb up was nice and cool and it wasn't until we approached town on the way down that it felt overly warm. Beautiful day for a ride. I bit over 49 miles with about 4600' of climbing.

Me, on the lower section of the BRP. Steady 7% grade for 4 miles.

I put in 21 miles on the local urban bike paths this morning with a 30mph breeze. Sweating buckets going downwind. Love the way the sweat disappears when you turn into the wind or pedal with a side-wind.

Kicked the total for the year up over 1K miles! :D

bjjoondo 05-27-12 05:43 PM

Wife and I rode 32 miles to check out the new, Cafe Velo, (bike shop-cafe combo), here in Colorado Springs, CO. LOL, all the bikes WAY over our limited budget but the root bear and turkey bagel sandwich was very good! Windy but Sunny an really nice day for a ride!

ncdave45 05-27-12 05:51 PM

Rode 38 super hilly miles, slow. Still feeling the effects of 80 miles and the crossing of Mount Weather two days ago.
