No riding with a broken kneecap.

Ouch! I'll quit complaining about the tiny bit of knee pain I experienced on my ride today.

I rode both Sat & Sunday over the weekend. 22 slow miles during a light snowfall on Sat and 50 miles on clear roads on Sunday.

I am officially whipped by cold weather as of this weekend, so I brought the bike in and put it on the Cyclops (rode for about 30 minutes).

Last year I made it all the way through December (weekends), maybe the weather was better, or I was tougher then :)

about 1200 miles for the season.

Complaining is a long standing tradition in BF. Go right ahead.

Yesterday I joined some friends to ride the newly rebuilt MTB trails at Arrowhead Park near Macon, GA. These popular and decent trails were wiped out a few years ago by a tornado. The local MTB club has put many manhours of work into rebuilding them into a much nicer trail system than before. There are a few tough climbs, but mostly about 8 miles of smooth, flowing trail with enough turns, dips and climbs to keep it interesting, but nothing too technical to discourage new riders. Anice new addition to the mix.

Hey - that looks like a lot of fun. I would enjoy that trail.

Hi, you guys well done ,
I am still recovering from my ' Heart Reconditioning ' eg. Five bypasses fitted with a new Vein ex my right leg.Feb 2011.
Weather here in NSW is great at the moment as we have just started our Summer, I have been riding my Avanti road bike set up on my TRANZX Trainer in my backyard , I get the fresh air and I am building my fitness up so that I can get back on the Road again straight after Christmas. I did 100 km on Monday in 3.5 hrs , split into three sessions, 40 km today , it feels great.
Take care Ian

Welcome back to riding. I only half agree with you about the weather though - I got soaked during my ride this evening in Canberra. I did 35 miles on roads and trails, including climbing Red Hill (a fairly easy climb). Total climbing a modest 1500 feet. (I could quote these all in metric, but as a transplanted yank, I still do my logging in imperial units). The shower caught me about 10 miles into the ride, whilst I was on the Monaroo Highway - there was nothing to do but to pedal on through the downpour. I more or less dried out over the course of the rest of the ride - except my shoes and socks, naturally.

23 miles today.

50 miles today with the Tuesday group

BluesDawg 12-20-11 10:03 PM

Rode with a dozen club members, including my son, in the annual Christmas lights ride around one of the local neighborhoods. Not as many decorated lawns as in previous years, but we lit up our bikes and ourselves and had a good time.

Several short videos from the ride. Not very good quality, but you can get a sense of the scene.

5 repeats of Black Mtn this evening - about 3800 ft of climbing in 20 miles (with 4 of those miles getting to and from the base of the hill). There was a guy who started out just a few seconds ahead of me, but he was much stronger. In fact, he completed his 5 repeats at about the same time I had finished only 4. OK, he was half my age but I was wishing I had his strength. But jealousy aside, I felt pretty good doing my climbs.

23 miles at 7am this morning...high 50s. Had good time, 23 miles in 1 hr 22min 16sec.

39 degrees and cloudy. We are lucky enough to live just a few blocks from Green Valley Forest Preserve. I rode my MTB over and rode all the trails again today. Didn't see the coyote I saw last week. Ahhh, retirement.

I got in a 40.5 mile ride this morning, my longest yet. Real nice day in Connecticut today, mid 50's, light wind.

Gravity Aided 12-23-11 05:07 AM

Rode 10 miles both Saturday and Sunday, fog starting to freeze on Sunday made for interesting handling characteristics

Bikey Mikey 12-23-11 09:23 AM

23 miles this morning.

teachme 12-23-11 12:29 PM

36 miles this morning. It was nice and cool; around 45 degrees headwind to tailwind ratio was about 50/50 and I got the 36 miles done in 2 1/2 hours including a 20 minute break at the halfway point.

Yo Spiff 12-23-11 05:26 PM

Got 19 miles in today. Found out how suitable my gear was for the low 40's. I need to improve my footwear a bit more. With some neoprene overboots, my toes were a bit cold the last few miles. Everything else was somewhere between warm and chilly, but comfortable.

Banded Krait 12-24-11 01:46 PM

I rode 40.1 mi today on the Schuylkill River Trail near Valley Forge National Park in Pa. This was my longest ride to date. It was a nice day for riding, though a bit cold at the start. Fortunately we had sunny skies which helped warm things up a bit. I was very tired at the end and will sleep very well tonight.

Bikey Mikey 12-24-11 01:52 PM

Normally Saturday is a rest day, but rode 23 miles since I won't get to ride tomorrow--too many relatives and such to attend.

Gravity Aided 12-24-11 04:36 PM

62 brisk miles today, temps 36 - 54

Barrettscv 12-24-11 04:47 PM

22 miles along the Chicago Lakefront. 15 mph SW winds under sunny skies and 35F temps. The snow drought still holds with about 1.5 inches of snow so far. We had plenty of rain this week but next week looks clear & mild.
