Five miles on the tandem today. Low 40's but some sun. My stoker is holding out for at least 50+ before we do longish rides.

Rode with the Wheelmen again today. Temps at 33F at 10 AM and 43 F at finish. I rode 25 miles and the hotshots did the 45 mile ride and all finished about the same time. Some of those hotshots are not that young but they sure crank out some RPMs. I get sucked into riding faster than usual so I'm feeling sort of beat up. Looking forward to a very hot shower before bed.

Yes! The bad run of Spring weather is over at last. 43 miles on the tandem in high 50's maybe low 60's with some sunshine. Bit of wind, but we still made good time. Weather forecast is now very good, but of course I'm traveling to Iowa on business.

LAriverRat 03-28-11 12:20 AM

No, i am getting soft. Hope to get out this coming week.

This long winter is taking a toll on my goal of 5000 miles for '11. Will have to really make up the mileage when and if we ever get Spring.

They are predicting some snow for later in the week. March came in as full on winter and seems to be going out the same. In the meantime I'm in cycling mode. The skis are put up, the ski boots and snow shoes are in the closet and I've managed to get in about 250 miles this year. I'm hoping to be in good enough condition to do the Flattest Century In The East during September.

51 miles(3-28-11) finally got in a ride. Cool, sunny and windy. Took my time and started slow. Better weather the rest of the week.

Local ride with new pedals

Got out for about 9 miles with my new clipless pedals. Provided a great deal of amusement for the people in the car in back of me when I forgot to unclip at the stop sign and toppled over. Great reason for wearing gloves! I did it one othere time and hope that two times is the trick. Teaching the old dog new tricks.....

Rode about a 30 mile loop with a couple of 40 something friends. The warm weather lately has me spoiled. A few weeks ago 57F and no wind would have felt great. Today it felt cold. :) Good ride, though.

19 miles this evening with my daughter's gymnastics coach. It was pretty much a recovery ride for me.

Bob Ross 03-29-11 08:09 PM

Rode to work & back today. 22 miles round trip.

On the ride home I was waiting at an intersection when a woman (total stranger) crossing the street stopped in front of me and said "You're the only biker who stops for red lights. I'm very proud of you."

Allegheny Jet 03-29-11 08:58 PM

43 miles with two buddies this evening. Even though it was 35 degrees I was able to break a sweat. We did a workout that had a 30 minute warm-up then rode a 1 hour interval @ Z3 where every 3 minutes we would drop 2 gears and sprint off the saddle for 10 seconds. After the interval the rest of the 2.75 hr ride was @ Z2 and we just rode back in the dark to the start point and talked. Spring needs to come to NE Ohio soon, real soon.

LAriverRat 03-29-11 11:13 PM

Managed to get out in the late afternoon, 21 very windy miles, side head wind. Lots of people out which made it interesting. Sunny, 72 degrees.

Allegheny Jet 03-30-11 12:39 PM

It’s snowing right now so that means I'll be riding the rollers for 2 hrs while my wife toggles the TV between crying fat people and wanna be pop stars. I guess it could be worse, right?

Phil85207 03-30-11 01:23 PM

YES!!! I finally got over the flu enough to ride this morning albeit a short one. I mixed in some hills, one at 6.5% for a short distance and was satisfied with how the ride went. I forgot to put on the HR chest strap and forgot to hit the start button on the Garmin too till I went about a mile. I've been off the bike for so long I need to get retrained I guesshttp

I have a couple of daughters in Mt. Shasta CA. and they got 5 ft of snow the other day. Heavy wet snow that is so much fun to shovel. What ever happened to the global warming thing?? It was a little warmer on my ride here today.

DnvrFox 03-30-11 01:42 PM

about 25 miles, 48F, winds to 20+ mph, straight into headwind for 12 miles. Kinda fun!!

LAriverRat 03-30-11 04:04 PM

First ride in a long time without any extra layers. 68 degrees when i left, fog was just clearing, 84 degrees when i got home. 6 mph wind, sunny 51 funfilled miles. Lots of bugs, dogs, and other cyclists.

Gorgeous day! :)

sarals 03-30-11 10:08 PM

It was a GORGEOUS day here today, too! Spring fever deluxe! Two of us rode 32 miles in the wilds today, I rode 45 miles with the group yesterday, and put in 14 windy miles on my Felt B2 TT bike Monday. It's been a good week!

LAriverRat 04-01-11 03:20 PM

What a day, could see Catalina Island and the snow coverd mountains from Seal Beach. That does not happen very often. 78 degrees at the beach, 6 mph wind, had a great 42 mile ride in 2 hours 5 minutes. Had a very good day.

JanMM 04-01-11 04:00 PM

Yesterday - rode to and from work - 19 miles RT. About 30F in the AM but 40's in the PM.
Sunny and 50's for Saturday - looking forward to first club ride on the new tandem.

Doohickie 04-01-11 04:04 PM

Yes I did ride today. Had the day off from work but needed to go up to the college where my son attends; they messed up his financial aid and I had to get it straight for them. Anyway, the school is in the middle of a nasty area, so I was kind of cautious but the only issue was a loose dog that gave chase for about 50 yards.

It was the opposite direction of my normal commute and I'm not used to riding into a low sun. That sucked and was kind of scary when I knew cars were coming up from behind and may or may not see me.

DnvrFox 04-01-11 04:18 PM

In the low 60's, about 10 mph variable wind, did 20 miles on my "training route" - the one with the most hills I can find around here.

Phil85207 04-01-11 06:43 PM
