Did my first 100+ mile ride of the year on Sunday. 103 miles, 7000 ft of climbing almost all on rollers. I hit five different counties in Virginia, I think:

This was my first 100 mile ride since switching from the Toupe to the Fizik Alliante saddle. I think I'll keep it. The Fizik is a little more prone to putting "things" to sleep, but as long as I keep aware of it, and remember to get up out of the saddle frequently, it's OK. It seems to be better on the sit-bones than the Toupe.

My ride today was very hot; summer is here in Central Florida, humidity is starting to creep up.

Great weather this morning, 70⁰F when I left home and 81⁰F when I got back this afternoon. Did my usual ride out the Seminole Wekiva Trail and stopped at Panera Bread in Lake Mary, only this time I had a cinnamon walnut twist and lemonade. This Panera Bread is right on the Seminole Wekiva Trail and is always crowded with cyclist on weekends you can’t get a table without waiting. From there I rode north on International Blvd to Wilson Road then west to Orange then to Sylvan Lake Road. The return trip was back was really tough as I was fighting a 20 mph head wind all the way. Tomorrow we are supposed to have some serious storms. I hope I can get may ride in before they show up.

I'm in Oregon. The weather this morning was cloudy and in the 30's and if I'm going to ride I need to do it prior to 6:00am (get ready for work). At that point it's still dark so I usually talk myself out of it. This morning I got on the trainer (CycleOps Fluid) and did 40 minutes. My bike is a Trek 2.3 I bought a couple years ago. I just upgraded it by adding SRAM Force components and a Quarq power meter. Couple that with a new Garmin 800 and I have a nice new ride and the means to get better. ...oh by the way I'm 56 and am enjoying the hell out of the freedom that riding gives me.

Was on a business trip to Brazil from Mar 20 to the 31st (got back home the morning of the 31st), so was off the bike for a while. I got in 28 on Thursday, and 37 on Friday. Rode 72 in el Tour de Mesa on Saturday, then 31 on a recovery ride yesterday. After 12 days off, it was great to be back on the bike again!

I was off work today and did my first ride in full summer kit!
84° and got in a 32 miler. I would have gone further but I had/have other things planned( why I was off work)

BluesDawg 04-04-11 04:00 PM

Similar to kr32, I was off work but had a full day of other stuff to do. I did get to ride 25 miles this afternoon. 86F and pretty windy. It felt great to be sweaty and smelly after a ride. :)

Yeah I forgot about the wind, it was windy here too!

LAriverRat 04-05-11 05:22 PM

41 windy sunny miles, 68 degrees, went to the beach. Wind was kicking up mini waves/breakers in the Los Angeles River. Its odd enough to see water in it, let alone waves breaking up river. Thought my rear tire was flatting, but it was the head wind. Fun ride.

Phil85207 04-05-11 05:52 PM

Great day, wind not a factor, heat not a factor, just a easy paced, relaxing ride with rest stops thrown in for a change.

About 20 early morning before huge winds.

BluesDawg 04-05-11 08:25 PM

Yes. My friend from work and I rode a 31 mile loop from Coopers to Haddock in low 60s temp and WNW wind gusting from 15-30mph.http://www.mvillebikes.com/vBulletin...lies/frown.gif We chose a route that was mostly headwind the first half and mostly tailwind coming home. The wind was unreal. We alternated between stern determined faces growling at the headwind to laughing at the absurdity of it all. The middle part of the ride was maybe the hardest as the wind was hitting us at 90 degrees, making it hard to maintain a line.

But it's all good. http://www.mvillebikes.com/vBulletin...es/biggrin.gif

Rode to and from work today. (19 miles). Dry - upper 30's this morning and 50 this afternoon. A WARM spring day would be nice.

Trsnrtr 04-06-11 06:19 AM

Did a windy 53 miles on my Bacchetta Corsa today. Temp was about 49. Good ride.

Great weather this morning, 54⁰F when I left home and 78⁰F when I got back this afternoon. Connected with two friends at the Sebastian Trail Head and rode north to the Lake Mary Panera on the Seminole Wekiva Trail and stopped for the usual bagel and coffee. This Panera Bread is right on the Seminole Wekiva Trail and is always crowded with cyclist on weekends you can’t get a table without waiting. From there we rode north through Heathrow to Orange Blvd. Our plan was to ride to The DeBarry mansion and back. Just before we got to SR 17/92 the bridge was under construction with no way around it except SR 46. Now even on a quiet day SR 46 can be very dangerous so we opted to turn around and do the Deer Path ride. DeBarry mansion will have to wait for another day. We rode back down Orange then to Sylvan Lake Road to the trail head. The return trip back was really tough as we were fighting an 11/20 mph head wind most of the way. Tomorrow we are supposed to have some more good weather so I will do a solo ride probably about 35 miles. My daughter and I and a friend plan to do a metric on the Cycle Flagler on Sunday

Today’s wild life count:
Two Red Tail Hawks, several Sand Hill Cranes, and one Sand Hill Crane chick. This is probably the same group that I saw last week but one of the chicks was missing.

Another windy ride this afternoon - 15 miles. 60+F felt good.

ditto except 35 miles here.

LAriverRat 04-06-11 06:33 PM

Only had time for a short 20 mile ride. Overcast, cloudy a few drops of rain, 64 degrees. Almost no wind. More or less a recovery ride. Hi spin, high gears all the way. A little over an hour, still lots of water and wildlife in the river beds and drying basins which made it an interesting run.

Second ride of the season for us on our tandem trike. We did 18 miles, with a good number of hills. Hope to ride Friday and Saturday too. Will do a loop with more hills on Friday, then back to what something a bit easier on Saturday. No such thing as riding without hills, around here. No riding Sunday, rain predicted, maybe for Monday too. We need to be in shape by mid June to do the PALM 30 ride, a 6 day ride across the lower peninsula of MI. Took it easy on our last ride, only 11 miles, since it was our first. Hoping to log at least 40-45 miles by the end of this week.

BluesDawg 04-07-11 07:14 PM

Club MTB ride at Bartram with Katie, Rob and Adam (escorted by Alice the dog). We rode a mix of doubletrack and singletrack, splashing through the creek to ride the hills behind the Veterans Cemetery. I rode just under 9 miles before a tiny little stick flipped up into my chain and caused my rear derailleur to jam, snapping the derailleur hanger.
I pushed the bike a little over a half mile to the car.

When I got home, Lori had brought me veggie korma from Metropolis. :) That and a Stone Levitation from the fridge made it all better.:p

You might want to enable the elevation corrections on the Garmin site for the Forerunner 305. I use the same device and the elevation data is wildly inaccurate without the corrections.

kr32 04-08-11 03:26 AM

The same 35 mile ride as the day before but 5 minutes faster.
