While I'm here...

I also put in a very pleasant 35k. Interesting in that the wind shifted a bit while I was out and it seemed I had more tailwind than headwind. Along with a milder temperature I had a surprisingly easy ride.

Intervals tomorrow.

33 miles, 3000 feet elevation gain. Perfect weather. First time in the mountains. I like it. 42/24 lowest gear. I need a compact.

My thoughts exactly

Am I missing some strange USA irony, wasn't this 'Rider from California' just feeling the pressure in the tyre, to compare his own , or to make sure the other rider's was correct? You can get a good idea by 'feel' - tyre pressure that is!

It was more like he was feeling the smoothness and not the pressure. And even if it was feeling for pressure that still seems rather weird to me. I would never just reach over a feel someones tire.
Now if we were talking about tires and pressure or tread maybe I would but we weren't.

47 mile group ride on the tandem. A bit too much after 47 day before yesterday, but enjoyable nevertheless.

Went to the meeting place for the local club ride. A thunderstorm passed through about 45 minutes before the scheduled ride. No one but me showed up, all the soccer fields were in use and the golf courses I passed had players. When did roadies turn into wimps? Went home got the cross bike and headed to a local park for some skill work and some Z5c sprint intervals (what I was scheduled to do in the first place but I wanted to ride with my buddies). Unbeknown to me the weekly cyclo cross clinic was having it's first workout of the season and due to the rain it started late. I got to do cross drills and race intensity intervals with similar minded riders. After the workout I did do the 6 x 1 minute Zone 5c intervals from a standing start.

After 4 spokes break in two weeks, don't you get the feeling something bigger than a spoke needs to be fixed?

LAriverRat 09-08-10 05:21 PM

12 miles today. Did 3 2mile hill(mountain) repeats. Morning drizzle, light rain in parts, had to wait to see if it would clear. Best going up, 14minutes 16 seconds 42/24.
Best coming down 4 minutes 8 seconds, 40.3 mph.

Working on turning the fuel injected engine with turbo into a high performance diesel for cross racing. More power throughout the pedal stroke at a lower cadence is the goal. Tonight's 32 mile ride included 3 x 10 minute "chugging" intervals in the 52/12 gear at 60-70 rpm. It took a concentrated effort to get the heart rate into mid-Z4. Once the intervals were completed and I was riding back home I had a very hard time getting my cadence over 85. I must have wasted some of the muscle groups.:D

20 mile ride after work. lost water bottle. Headwind on the way out, Nice tailwind back in. Fun ride on MUP, it was windy and overcast so not to many people were out.

seemunkee 09-08-10 07:48 PM

23 miles. How the heck do you have a headwind on every up hill when riding a loop? Shouldn't you have a tail wind at least 25% of the time?

Sadly, it's the headwinds that we notice. The tailwinds we just attribute to a strong motor.

:lol:And I bet the temp was over 100 degrees even though there was 3 feet of snow on the ground too. All while riding barefoot also. :50:

Skilsaw, yes I know there's a problem, I've just been avoiding having my wheel rebuilt. Plus my 310LBs may have a little to do with it as well.

I thought those winds were only in Southern Md.! Glad someone else has them, sorry.

Temp yes - snow, no. Im in South Carolina = HOT. Barefoot? What, are you crazy?
Since its a one way ride home and the wind was blowing the wrong way - it was against.
As for the hills. I cross several small rivers/creeks, each of which presents deep drop-ins, over long grade spans. On the ride home, its quadruple the climb coming out, than coasting down.

10 Wheels 09-09-10 04:33 PM

101.2 easy miles. Still Hot with Temps to 94* Sunny.

kr32 09-09-10 05:22 PM

26.5 miles 75°-15 mph winds ho hum 18 mph avg.

seemunkee 09-09-10 05:39 PM

Another blustery day. Only did 10 miles.

BluesDawg 09-09-10 06:28 PM

A quick 10 mile loop after getting home from work. It is still pretty warm here, but I can feel the change in the air. Not as hot as a few weeks ago.

I tested the leg with a tall gear acceleration on a flat section. The twinge of pain told me that I still need to stick with spinning low gears for now.
