Could not ride today - Thunderstorms ! Lots of torrential rains here in Illinois- Usually means about a week or so away from a significant snowfall . Went to lunch with Mrs. Gravity Aided . An Asian restaurant in Bloomington where we usually eat was having a 90th anniversary in business today . Also great fun .
Denver, glad to hear you're back out on the trails again ! |
Zip today - raining cats and rats tonight. Got out for a five mile ride in the dark yesterday evening.

Very foggy this morning with slick roads; so no ride. :(
|
23 miles this morning. Warmer, but still windy.
|
16.5 this morning. 47* and wind blowing out of the north. Still pretty damp from the rainy week but was a good ride.
|
23 miles this morning. Warmer and a bit of a wind. I did much better in time than I have for a while with the colder and windier weather(avg over 23 miles today, 16.5 mph(1 hr 23 min 30 sec)).

25 miles with two members of our club. Boy, did I get a reality shock! These guys could really ride. 18 - 20 mph into a very strong head wind. I got dropped like a hot potatoe, but I caught up at the break points and they were nice enough to wait if we lost sight of each other. It was a good ride; I like riding with riders who can challenge me. I feel like I got a little better today!

62 miles this morning @ 17.0 ave. Club ride of about 43 miles, plus I rode to the start and took the long way home. Great ride, and a great morning in the Valley of the Sun for a ride. It was mostly sunny with temps from 60 - 67.

About 12 miles this afternoon. Reasonably nice weather today and supposed to be a bit warmer Sunday. Plan to get out again.

Been a while since I posted in this thread, though I have been doing a fair bit of riding. I'm not sure what leads me to post or not post in this forum. At some intervals I read this forum every day or more, and then for others I hardly look at it for weeks at a time.
Anyway, yes - 58 miles on a group ride in Canberra, out to Googong dam and then south to Royalla before returning to town for coffee with the group. About 3500 feet of climbing. Rain was forecast, but didn't come - it was in the 50s early in the ride and got up to about 70 °F by mid-day. Canberra really is cycling crazy, by the way. Go to any cafe or coffee shop anywhere in town on a Sunday afternoon and 1/3 or 1/2 the patrons have arrived on their bikes, wearing spandex and jerseys. |
Did 65 miles crossing the Potomac twice from VA into MD and back. This was the first long ride since putting Ultegra Di2 on my "backup" bike. I got a standard crank installed (53/39 with 12-27 cassette.) I've been riding with a compact crank with a wide range cassette for years. That got me over many long, steep mountains. Using the standard crank is quite a challenge after that. I find I can't really "sit and spin" above about 8%. I need to stand on the pedals above that. I almost didn't make some of the 16-17% stuff (Mar-Lu Ridge anyone??)
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/134989650 BTW, my "average time" was knocked down a peg by the 10 minutes I spent circling a parking lot and adjusting my Di2 rear derailleur ;) |

12 miles through subdivisions and golf course to trail, and thence downtown and return. This girl was out traveling around as well . |
Traction was an issue today.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...h181211002.jpgDid one of my Sunday rides today, there was about an inch of fresh snow on top of ice,as the heading suggests , getting a grip was a bit challenging.
I ride this 14 mile loop in Banffshire on forestry tracks then over the top of a small hill " the Balloch ", when I can't use my road bike . As the photos show ,a bit of a snow storm was brewing to the north, made the descent of the north side interesting when it hit.http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...h181211001.jpg |

25 miles.

Burrrr.
Well a bit I suppose, but considering the Latitude 57.335, it could be a whole lot worse. No doubt it's pleasantly warm in Texas ? |

Got out for a 15 miler this morning, my water bottle was frozen when I got home.
|
I felt so guilty about the apple pie I had yesterday and sleeping in late today, I did 23 miles this afternoon in chilly and windy conditions.
|
Temp over 60, got in a swim, weight lifting, ride and walk!!
|
19 miles today in dry, sunny, low 40's conditions. Can't complain about the weather. I'm dreaming of a green Christmas.
|
No riding with a broken kneecap.

^^^^^Sorry to hear that. A good friend just had her knee replaced last Monday. Looks painful but she is still on painkillers....
Twenty miles of 42* urban "mountain biking" to watch the Green Bay game with some friends, with stangely empty roads. The rides great, the food was great, the company was great, but the game sucked.... GB took it's first loss of the season. The ride home was quite spirited though as I was somewhat powered by frustration. And to top it off the Colts actually won their first game of the season.... Spooky. |
