33½ miles this AM.

Too much coffee last night. Up since 1:30 AM and too darn sleepy this morning. Maybe later in the day, after a nap, since the temps have been staying in the 80's lately.

73 miles and 6400ft of climbing over the North Cascade Highway once again a super nice ride this time of the year.
|
Quick mtb ride this morning. It was perfect riding weather and there were no bugs. I had the place to myself and had fun flipping the switch on the fork to the downhill setting and letting 'er rip down the hills.

Acadia's Park Loop Road, 2 laps on the Masi, 37.7 miles total, 2400 ft of climbing. No pics, just flying on the bike and admiring the scenery, with an occasional stop to eat. It was glorious.

Great ride today, only 47 miles but no flats. Last time out I had two.

Rained all day yesterday in TX hill country. Nice long ride planned! But being from flatland hills present new challenges. Normal thirty forty mile ride equal less than 100 ft climbing. Today - 20 some odd mile and 1200 feet of climbing. For riders with one leg shorter that ain't much but for me - WOW. Now I know how to get more exercise in less time CLIMB. Totally new riding experiance.

40 something miles.
Was in a bad mood when I made up mind to ride. Decided to ride until I was in a better mood or bonked. Getting in a better mood won. |
40 miles + 3 cool down miles, 43 total. Rather windy and was really fighting a nasty headwind for 50% of the time. Fortunately it was tailwind in the last 25% home(do a loop 2X).

13 miles before the rains came. Not what I wanted to do, but it was better than nothing. Suppose to rain the rest of the week, according to the weather channel. I sure hope not, I have a 100K charity ride on Saturday.

Last ride day in TX hill country, only 32 miles, but almost 1,500 feet of climbing. Agreed not much for most but for a flatland guy it was tough. Managed to climb a couple 8% plus hills and stay seated, but oh so slow. Finally used all three rings and reached 36.5 mph on one decent. Faster possible but old age wisdom says wait for better roads. Great experiance riding hills for a change

As promised (or as threatened, if you prefer) from four days ago. First spin around Acadia's PLR on the Masi, and the climb up Cadillac Mountain.
For a sense of the geography, overlooking Otter Cliffs on the PLR http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...ter_Cliffs.jpg The Masi at rest http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...si_at_rest.jpg Another coastline pic http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...Masi_coast.jpg Halfway up Cadillac http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...halfway_up.jpg Near the top http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...ar_the_top.jpg On the summit http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/...n_Cadillac.jpg |

Put on some dual-compound Kool-Stops, WOW do these babies haul down fast!! 2. Got great deal on set of tights for the colder months ahead but NO pad, found some padded underware on sale in my size for $5.00, SCORE, bring on fall, LOL! :)

Went out on a bike ride with the girls yesterday which was just an amble (7 mph) around the riverbank and forest paths.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=273754 I have this favourite mound which is one exit off the riverbank onto a path. One one side is a horse stile where you need to carry your bike or this small hill which I love ride up and down. It isnt very high but is quite steep and tricky. All the others opted for the horse stile option but of course I had to fly down the slope then on the way back I was trying to get a run at it but there were too many joggers etc. The others had to wait while I took another run and made a smooth run up to it. Would have been embarrassing if I had fumbled it lol. Then at the end the ride leader says you need to go mountain biking lol:p |
35 miles this AM.

After boxing up my MTB at the LBS to ship out to my brother, I picked up my Tarmac with the new QuarQ installed and headed up the mountain. Unfortunately, I forgot a pump (tires at 50#) and my saddlebag with tools, CO2 and tubes. So I rode around the overlook. The QuarQ seemed to work fine. lol
