Did a quick 21.5km before I head to work tonight...It's a great day for riding along the waterfront. One of the last cruise ships of the season was in port and lots of people out walking along the waterfront scenic walk.

Once again my 26 year old son beat me into a pulp. 60 miler from Johnstown, Ohio to almost Frazeysburg, Ohio. Very nice path, rails to trails type of path. Goofed around in Newark for a bit. Got an up close look at this, http://innovativebuildings.net/wp-co...t_building.jpg

Averaged 17 mph.

Mort Canard 09-20-12 06:05 PM

Just my usual urban bike path route for 18 miles. I've been off the bike for three days and I thought I should stretch the legs before the weekend's rides.

Esteban58 09-20-12 09:16 PM

Did what's becoming my 'usual 20'... Worried about what I'll do as we lose the light here... What do others do, just ride in the dark and tough it out?

42 miles starting at 05:00, 56ºF and ending lower at 54ºF. Passed a group that I see every Mon, Wed, and Fri--I was wearing leg warmers and a long sleeve jersey and they were in just shorts and short sleeve jerseys, seems a tad chilly for just that. One may ask, "why don't I do the group on Mon, Wed, Fri?" Well, they don't start until 06:30 and I start usually between 04:30~05:30--they only go 22 miles and I do 6 days between 30 and 40 miles, usually 34 is the least. Also, I'm not sure I wouldn't get dropped. That group is pretty fast.

Got in my usual 30 miles today on a nice and cool morning with an overcast the entire ride. Perfect riding weather. Let's hope it stays that way over the weekend. On charity ride tomorrow and a group ride scheduled for Sunday.

What time do you go to bed in order to get up that early every morning? I wake up around that time, but it's bladder related. My wife thinks I'm nuts for getting up at 6:00 AM, but since she retired, she has to, as well, if she wants to go riding in the mornings.

23 miles, stopped in Downtown Colorado Springs as they were doing a "24 hr." Better Block presentation, where they are taking area downtown and making it easier access for Peds and Bicyclist. It's a live demonstartion with false divders, plant's, trees, etc. It has a actual "bicycle valet" for parking, pretty nice, wouldn't mind seeing it become reality! :)

I usually start getting ready for bed between 21:00~22:00(9PM~10PM for those who don't like International/Military time)--asleep by 21:30 if I start getting ready by 21:00 or asleep by 22:20 if I start getting ready by 22:00. I like riding that early(between 04:30~05:30) since there is little to no traffic on the back roads I ride. The other day, the roads were still quite wet from overnight rain and the prediction was for 85% chance around the time I'd be in the middle of a ride...so I slept in and didn't start until about 09:00--much more traffic to deal with and the parking lot in the shopping strip mall where I turn on part of the loop was nearly full whereas when I do my rides really early, the lot is clear(duh).

I've been doing more hiking lately (25 miles this week) than biking but managed to get out for a short ride to check the new quarq pm on the Tarmac. I really couldn't notice the extra 100g the quarq added to the bike but I did notice the 5# I picked up around my midsection over the late summer. :(

Mort Canard 09-22-12 10:44 AM

I put in 30 miles this morning with the early risers group out of one of the local bike shops. Good pace and good mix of riders.

twentysomething 09-22-12 10:47 AM

Yes.

GlennR 09-22-12 12:27 PM

I did 52 miles today and resisted going into the bakery during the stop.

I need to watch my girlish figure.

50K charity ride this morning. Great ride until I got cut off while being passed in the bike lane and pushed into a decorative pebble bed. Bikes fall pretty damn fast when hitting pebble beds at 22 mph. Road rash on the left hip, thigh and forearm. Scratched up the left shifter paddles but other than that the bike seems to be OK. I don't think the guy that cut me off has done very many group or club rides. I did take the bike to the LBS to have it checked out. I think I'll take a few days off the bike so the road rash can heal.

GlennR 09-22-12 02:20 PM

Glad you're not badly hurt.

Group ride can be dicey and I generally ride alone due to a few not as bad experiences.

JanMM 09-22-12 02:36 PM

Ouch! A variety of wound care products are available at drug stores to help you heal and get back on the bike soon.

JanMM 09-22-12 02:37 PM

Ten mile tandem ride this morning. Nice tailwind on parts of the ride back.

32.5 today, new route, very scenic, more climbing than I expected but I handled it ok.
i vaguely remember riding this about 27 years ago with a lot more élan.

Datsun Nut 09-22-12 07:53 PM

I only did a 10 miler this morning. I usually head out about 5:45am and do 15 miles but the wife set today aside for a Garage Sale and insisted I be ready to move things out side by 7AM. So 10 miles and showered and went to work. Been off the bike for a few day and really wanted to ride. Tomorrow I head for a 50 mile ride. First big ride in 15 years. I am very excited!

BikeWNC 09-22-12 09:37 PM

Yes, I rode today. 28 miles with 1700' of climbing in 1:53 ride time. 15mph at 199w NP.

Red Rider 09-22-12 11:07 PM

Yes. I would've repeated this 2 or 3 times but when I discovered I'd left my saddlebag at home, I skedaddled back. Color me risk-averse.

Bikey Mikey 09-23-12 06:34 AM

45 miles this am.

BikeWNC 09-23-12 12:34 PM

NealH and I rode 44.5 miles this morning. We questioned the decision to start on top of the mountain and finish with the climb instead of starting down in the valley. When we got to where we usually start it was 45º and blowing 15mph. So cool. But after a few miles it was great. We had 3850' of climbing on the loop under perfect clear Fall skies. The trees were turning at the highest elevations making the views even more spectacular. I love this loop, with about 30 of the over 44 miles either in National Park or National Forest. We took our time today (about all I can do these days) and rode in 3:26 ride time. I had 1914 Kj of work on this route which proves my extra weight not only makes me slower but makes me do more work. Fun day.

bjjoondo 09-23-12 03:37 PM

23 miles with the wife, on our what seems to become, normal, route via streets and trails to Manitou Springs and back. Stopped for a lemonaid at a little Mom and Pop drive in place. The temp was high 85 degrees but there was a "cool" wind blowing around and making leaves fly, sadly winter is on the way as we have VERY short fall seasons here. :(

Barrettscv 09-23-12 03:43 PM

21 miles today. I slept in and missed a riding event, the North Shore Century. I did enjoy the food and party afterwords.
