Just got in from a 21km ride along the waterfront. We are still having gorgeous weather here and riding is a pleasure. I stopped at the halfway mark and sat to drink some water and have a banana and watched an otter swimming and then coming out of the water to eat a fish. Wishing I had my DSLR to get some shots but I got a couple with my little point and shoot. I have to go to Jury selection tomorrow so I'm not sure how much riding I'll get in next week.

Haha, I've never skipped the ride and gone to the party afterwards. Thanks for giving me that idea!

53.9 miles on the tandem with my sweetie. Bedford, Concord, Lincoln, Wayland, Sudbury, Carlisle, Westford, Chelmsford. Not in that order. Superb weather, cool and dry. Autumn is here.
Just another small town attraction: http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/WaylandDepot.jpg |
40 miles today after returning from vacation in the warm south. what happened to summer?
|
Three months from now, we'll be asking 'What happened to Fall?' Kind of nice not to have to worry about hyperthermia, dehydration, etc.
Twenty miles today on the long wheelbase bike. Gosh, I like tailwinds that let me cruise in the 20's. |
Went out on a high speed solo training ride this afternoon. The first leg was downwind and it occurred to me that if I could put in a decent return leg I would have a new personal best moving average for the year. So on one of my favorite rural routes I put my head down and bumped the annual top speed up a few tenths mph. :D 24 miles with a east wind about 15 mph and the temps around 70F.

Did the easiest of three dead-end ranch roads that I can ride to from my house: 38.4 miles round trip, 14.7 mph avg. Never got above 70 degrees - perfect cycling weather. I had dead legs even before yesterday's 30 mile tandem ride and I really felt it on this ride. Other than the 4 or so miles on a busy country road I was only passed by 1 car. BTW, this was a cow-less ride; hills are dry and the cows have been moved elsewhere. The road doesn't really dead-end, just ends at a gate and private property. Looking at google you could ride a MTB for hundreds of miles on these dirt ranch roads if you didn't get caught.

Yes. And it was glorious!
Rode last Sat., had 6 days off, Fri. had a fun, therapeutic ride. Sat. did some hill training (18 mi., 1600+ ft. of climbing), so the shop ride was a welcome break to solo efforts. |
13 miles Saturday and 15 Sunday. A little windy, but near perfect weather for here .
|
35 miles this early AM.
|
45 miles on the Sat. Bellingham Donut ride.
|
Newport Beach back bay, Balboa Island, ferry to peninsula. Just missed getting doored on Balboa Island...when you're feeling good about passing clogged traffic...be careful.

Quick ride this afternoon- 11 miles at 14 mph

Longest ride for this cycling life 46 mi at 13.9. Last five miles was really begining to show just how old I really am. BUT my stops are getiing shorter and farther apart. Took two Payday candy bars to fuel the last half. Will do again this weekend after a days rest to see how much I can improve - also need the miles for the current Strava challenge. Kinda fun to see how I am doing compaired to others around the world.

My Rear Admiral and I rode 20 miles on the Screamer this afternoon. Very much appreciated tailwind on much of the ride back - cruising in the mid-20's is always fun. Inertia means the tandem stays in the fun speed range once we get going - easier to maintain speed than on a lighter half bike.

Well done! The rides get easier, you know. I'm not so sure about Payday candy bars as fuel though. Some sort of "real" food might work better as the day moves along.

Haven't ridden since Saturday's charity ride crash . Road bike is still in the shop and should be out today. I could have ridden the hybrid but my hip is still a bit sore so I am going to wait until it stops hurting. In the meantime, I'm getting very :twitchy: without my daily rides.

After detailing my old C'dale rode it 4 miles on errands. Then took the freshly detailed Look out for a fast 26 mile road trip.

Took the mountian bike out today and did 15 miles on sandy fire roads in Double Trouble State park- soft sand does wonders for your legs!

Did my last ride before starting jury duty tomorrow. Did 27km. Took the bike in to get fenders on it and have a quick checkup as it's been a month now since I got it. I did the waterfront route and am getting pretty good at getting over my "hill". My heart rate is up there at 175 when I get to the top but it comes down quite fast. Hope to get out again on Saturday.
