Went on a 30 mile bike ride today which was fun on muddy trails first then on the roads.
All well and good till we got near the end then we were coming onto a canal towpath which was busy with people. The lad in front of me got too close to a lady and had to brake hard. I collided with him and went flying off my bike onto a hard rocky surface. Lucky to escape with cuts and bruises http://republican.ie/forum/public/st...fault/ohmy.png Finished the ride as well lol http://republican.ie/forum/public/st...lt/biggrin.png |

I will be in about an hour. Probably the last 70 degree day in Central Ohio toll next spring.
Will stay out 3 hours or so. Storm-cold front moving in today. Would have to pay me lots of money to try and ride. |
Rode 60 miles yesterday for mt 60th Birthday.Did a "out an back"ride on the Lehigh river gorge rail trail in Jim Thorpe Pa. My wife took a shuttle to the 1/2 way point and did the last 30 miles with me.:thumb:

I keep meaning to update this tread but I always seem to be under the gun time wise...
Anyhoo I had a good ride today. After I rode the Fall Classic last weekend my legs were pretty spent, and I had a pretty poor ride on Tuesday and Thursday. Today I woke up after my midnight shift, had a quick cup of coffee then headed out. Legs felt like rubber again, that ride last weekend really took a lot out of me. After 4-5 miles I realized that I was feeling great. 26.4 miles, 19.8 mph ave, a nice fall afternoon spin. It was a beautiful day to boot, albeit a bit breezy. I need more days like this! |

Took an 18 mile ride on the single today to flush out the soreness in my calves from yesterdays tandem ride. I haven't felt so gassed on a bike in a long time, a result, I believe, of being dehydrated. It was a cool day, 60 degrees or so, and with the short ride I didn't take a bottle. I was thirsty from the first pedal stroke. Won't make that mistake again.
This time of year the farm trucks and tractors leave a lot of dirt on the shoulders and lanes - takes a bit of enjoyment out of the ride, but they have to make a living. |
24 miles with the wife on very blustery fall day, here in Colorado Springs. Lot's of leaves falling from the trees, still some decent color here and there, alas it will be gone soon :(
|
I was the slowest on this ride today. It was pretty, scenic, social, fun, humbling. My legs are trashed and I had a blast.
|
Couple of 12 mile rides indoors over the weekend due to the rain and winds.
|
45 miles this early am.
|
the luge at cooks corner in orange county santiago canyon specialzied demo event, epic s-works carbon 29er. Fast up hill, jarring downhill...need more or better front suspension
|
62 miles on Saturday, and 43.7 @ 18.2 on Sunday. Sunday was a solo ride, and it was the best average I ever had for that route.

lucky to get a short ride in today
13 miles at 5 minutes per. It ain't much but the way I've been feeling, it's a good day. Weather is really nice even though everything is wet from days of rain.
|
22 rail trail miles giving me my goal of 2000 miles for the year. I'm coasting from now on!
|
just finished 3 weeks of jury duty and only got a couple of rides in during that time so it was great to get out today before the downpours started again for a 20km ride along the waterfront. I got home and an hour later it was pouring. I got to ride in the sunshine.

42 miles this early am.

Personal goal this AM! First fifty mile ride. Still had energy for more. ET of 3:46 x 2 = 7.5 hour century. Long way to go for my sub six 100.
|
8 miles yesterday evening - dark enough that I was glad I had lights on board.
11 miles this evening. Very nice weather last couple of days. |
23 miles on a very nice day, sunny with some high clouds and near 80 F! It's really nice to ride in shorts and short sleeves! :)
|
20 mile evening ride on the tandem. Did the second half with the lights running. It was marvelous.

Not today, I"m afraid. and it was a perfect day to ride - an incredible indian summer day reaching 70 °F, and there was even a great club ride scheduled. But alas, I had an unavoidable meeting. Times like these I begin to dream about retirement....
|
54 miles with my son. 16.5 avg. MPH in mix of city, trail and country roads. Ended up riding in 70 degree mostly sunny weather.
Trees were beautiful to see and enjoy. No cagers tried to harm the endangered Road Bike sub-species today either! |
Hi all. Just got back from a two week trip to London and Paris after promising my wife that we would go once we retired. She hung it over my head till I took her so great trip but no riding and today was my first day out after getting back Monday night and it really turned cold with 38 degree temperature this morning. Waited till it hit upper 50's and went out for 38 miles and the legs and butt felt like new after being off the bike for the two weeks.
