Rode 20 miles yesterday over hilly (to me) terrain, half of that into a 20+ mph headwind. At one point I truly thought I was going to roll backwards down the hill. I've got to work on climbing.

This morning we did another 20.6 miles but with no wind and I did a little better on the climbs!

Even if unintentional, a great pun.

Sunday 10/04/09... Nice ride today with my daughter on the Withlacoochee Trail Ride.
All is well in Slo Spoke Jim's world.

My wife and I rode on the Withlacoochee trail Sunday also. We rode 40 miles. It was a a nice day with plenty of snacks at all of the SAG stops and then hot dogs, baked beans, pie, and free beer at the end.

Today I took my kayak to work and had a nice paddle in the Crystal River on the way home. As I was coming back to the boat ramp I saw 4 porpoises slapping the water with their tails, chasing mullet and then throwing them in the air and catching them again. I don't usually carry my camera around the salt water but I wish I had it today.

Rode 16 miles today after 6 days off recovering from a hard fall on my mountain bike. Finally can breath deep without pain. Pretty nice going out, but when I started back I understood why. STIFF headwind all the way home, but hey, it was good to be back on the bike again.

I did a fine little 16 mile lunch ride today.
Had the extra bonus of getting to try out my CO2 pump and Park Tool "Instant Patch" or whatever they call it.

Be sure to replace that temporary patch with a real one. Those self-adhesive patches are notorious for peeling off after a while.

We had a great time on this ride and will do it again next year. I thought it was well organized and I tried to thank as many of the event workers as possible at each SAG stop. I have really got the urge to move over to your area and be able to ride that trail weekly.

Did about 5 miles on one of the local mountain bike trails. That is a world of difference from riding the roads. I rode 17 yesterday on the road and it was strenuous, but that mountain trail today was EXHAUSTING. I do enjoy that type riding and it is such a great workout, but after my recent crash, the thought of laying out there alone is always in the back of your mind. Tend to be a little more cautious!!

Did about 12 miles on MTB on roads today. I had to pay electric bill so I was going to ride mtb there and drop it off. The local rail to trails was around the corner so I went there and did 2 miles of that and turned around and came home.

This was the first time I ever rode a bike for a specific task too other than fun and health. 4000+ miles of fun and health this year and now I do a task ride, might start doing more.

Come on over, there are plenty of houses for sale cheap. Seriously this is a great place to live and work and it will be even better when I am finished working.

1.5 hours of cyclo cross practice. Included in the workout was dismounts/mounts, stair climbing carries, 14 short steep hill repeats, and finished off with a couple laps at race pace.
