23.1 miles on the Allez, rode with a friend that's the same (or better) riding level than myself. Wore shorts today, a little cool at first but it was the right choice. 57° at the start, 62° at the end. The lite bicycle jacket was just right while moving. Met some other serious riders from Sparks. Hopefully I've found some other people my level (intermediate) to ride with.

Mrs. DowneasTTer and I rode our new bikes 40 miles on the Withlacoochee State Trail. While taking a break at Liberty Park we noticed the harvester in the process of clearing Lake Henderson of invasive plants.http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/gal...?imageid=22945

35.7 miles @ 16.1 with 856 ft. Really felt yesterdays intervals but it was a perfect day for riding so I pushed on.:p

The weather guys said it was to be froggy this morning but I didn't see any frogs on the way to work.
21 miles total.

Yesterday was supposed to be my one day each week rest day, but the weather was just far too nice to miss out on riding. Got dressed and took a short ride, 18.9 miles, on one of the flatter routes I have, just so I could enjoy the day. Glad I took the time to get out and take an easy, short spin.

Another beautiful Florida day for a bike ride. This morning's ride started out as a solo ride but I met one of my riding buddies on the trail and did 23 of the 40 miles with him.

Greybeard712 10-08-15 05:01 PM

26.7 miles (total) on the Roubaix. After lunch it was so nice out I shed the jacket and did the Queen Way loop for another 8.2 miles. Sure are a lot of cars out in the afternoon. But that's okay, I have laser sights.

Wasn't going to ride today because of another rough night of not too much sleep, but wife kinda kicked me out. Came upon an American Bald Eagle munching out on a road kill armadillo. By the time I rolled back up the driveway, I had completed 83 miles. Going to lighten the load for Saturday's ride.....no lock, no extra tools, aero wheels and a bit higher tire pressure.

JanMM 10-08-15 08:01 PM

Another ride to and from work today. 19 miles total.
Rest day Friday before this weekend's hilly Hilly Hundred. Saturday on the tandem and Sunday by myself - stoker will be volunteering.

Yep, the usual. It was fantastic fall weather here, couldn't resist, even if I wanted to....

35 miles in some awesome Florida weather this morning. It was one of those rides where the weather is so nice that you just don't want to hurry up and get done.

Planned on 10 miles Thursday but only made it a fast 3 before a flat sidelined me. No mini pump (it's on order now), and like a dummy I decided against toting the floor pump - wouldn't have added enough weight to matter.

And the tire and tube rolled right off the rim and the rim strip tangled in the derailer. I've had lots of flats before, years ago, but the flat tire never rolled off the rim so I could still walk the bike. Not so with this new-to-me used bike. That would have gotten heavy on a 3 mile walk home!

Luckily the fellow whose house I ended up in front of in a rural area gave me a lift - he was headed out my way anyhow. Nice fellow too.

Ride before starting work for the day. You can just make out the two peaks of House Mountain through the fog in the background.

55 miles with the group doing the Coast 2 Coast ride. This was one of two rides for today, so it was a small group of seven riders.

Outlaw 100 in Round Rock. I missed a turn somewhere, so it became the Outlaw 82 for me.
A very nice morning out in the farm land of central Texas.

56 tandem miles today on the first day of the Hilly Hundred weekend. Beautiful weather, colorful trees, lotsa lotsa folks on bikes. Too many potholes to count but also some smooth stretches. And more hills than you could shake a granny gear at. No walking today.

We did our 5th annual C&V CCRT ride today. Anyone not there today missed a great ride! Cool dry weather, clouds mixed with brilliant sun, miles of smooth clean pavement! 46.75 miles.

At the start, L to R: Prowler, Top506, otg, my sweetie/stoker Sharon, me, bikemore, Ed., Spiker. Scottryder joined us later.

This is one of the few CCRT rides that no one had a flat. So instead, Prowler's bike came up lame with a broken spoke. As Scottryder offered advice he tweaked the wheel straighter and continued on.

First stop, Nickerson State Park.

After reaching the Wellfleet trailhead our first priority was lunch.

Then a run over to the Atlantic.

A seal was cavorting in the water, being camera-shy though.

Thanks to Top for bumping us all, thanks to my sweetie for the oatmeal cookies, thanks to all for the great company. (And dang, those guys were fast!)

Nice and slow 21 mile ride with the wife this morning. Very enjoyable and it gave the legs a needed rest.

OldTryGuy 10-11-15 10:19 AM

83 miles yesterday but only 15 with the fast boys before being dropped like a hot tater. Five weeks till Horrible Hundred and looking forward to the ride. It will be my first in hilly, ;), central FL.

I did this afternoon... Just a little west of Richmond, Virginia, there is a huge business complex off Patterson Ave called West Creek Pkwy (Capital One is in there, VA Farm Bureau is in there, etc...) and the whole smooth roadway is a big 2 lane divided highway, but yet only 35 mph speed limit. From one end at Patterson Ave, up and around the whole "horseshoe" type of shape, out to the other end, further down Patterson, is 3 miles (out 'n back = 6 miles). There's numerous pullover spots and parking lots scattered around, so all the cyclists and joggers park wherever, and just go from there. As seen from a screen print from MapMyRide, I did 3 laps, including a quick U-turn to ask other riders if they needed help (a couple on his 'n hers Treks were reassembling a quick-release chain that had popped).

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...psrphyes3r.jpg
Edit: One funny thing that I forgot to mention... While I was out there doing the laps around and around, I "kicked it up a notch" and found that I could keep right up with the "modern roadies" and their CF Specialized, CF Trek, etc... A few gave me a weird glance when I overtook them on the hills (by the twin duck ponds in the image above), but they quickly caught up/passed me on the uphill section. Not giving up, I picked up my pace and caught up with them again on the flat sections. It made me chuckle that, here I am a middle aged 50+ guy, out there kicking it up "old school" style on a 30 yr old Fuji road bike! :thumb:

53 miles today on the final day of the Hilly Hundred. My stoker was a volunteer today so I rode my short wheelbase 'bent. A total of 4100 feet of climbing over the 109 miles for the weekend, which is a lot for a flatlander. Beautiful fall weather, great scenery, and countless hills. Only downside was too many potholes, which the organizers did the best they could to mark with paint and signs.
