Did my morning errands on my "utility/hybrid/commuter/whatever bike" and had to post a pic in honor of Brooks 150th anniversary!

(the irony of parking next to a butt tower did not escape me.... )

Rode a fast 20 or however fast I can go when it's headwinds the first 15mi and 3 hills. Great training ride. Freaked out a couple motorists when on 2 righthanders I was going 20mph into the turn and seemed to the ordinary driver I was going to slam their door. Love to rail corners. I'm the fastest old man in town. I'm sure of it.

Had a terrible nights sleep on Tuesday night so there was no ride yesterday. Got in a really good 38 mile ride this morning; 33 miles solo and 5 miles with the wife. My cycling team captain sent me a text that they are going to do a short 20-25 mile training ride this evening for the new members doing the MS 150, on the 23rd. Guess I'll go ride with them this evening so I can make up for not riding yesterday.

Shorts weather today and the jacket over t-shirt was a little much 40 mins into the 19.2 miles ride. New tires (old tube) on the Allez, front flat 1.5 miles into the ride. First use of the Innovations CO2 system. Works great. The dinky pump I carry on the bike didn't (at all).

Out of my usual 15 mile ride, out to Presque Isle and back, I did about 8, including a picnic on beach 1, then went a bit further west than normal, after climbing that killer hill (on foot) getting out of there. I found a new bakery, with killer sandwiches, plus a loaf of pepperoni bread, that I haven't tried yet. Right after that, I got a sidewall flat, that sounded like one of those air horns, and found a slice about 3" long. So, I walked back home, for about the last 5 miles. But at least I got the pepperoni bread home, before the big rain they're expecting tonight.

yeah, forecast was for rain after work, so cut out from the office around 10:30-ish and got in a quick 16 miles.

kinda brief ride, but at least I got something out of the day.

Had a nice 39 mile ride this morning with my buddy Frank this morning. We are both doing a 50 mile charity ride tomorrow so today's ride a moderate one, except when we had a nice tailwind.

Back and neck spasms kept me off the bike since Tuesday, but by Friday afternoon I felt loose enough to try a short ride. Maybe 3 miles or so, including some grocery hauling up a mile-long incline. Felt good. Looking forward to longer rides this weekend, weather permitting.

Left house at 7:39AM and into a headwind for 5 miles to get to the LBS for the Saturday ride start. Was feeling pretty sluggish and tired by the time I got there. 8:00AM is roll out and within 2 miles 23/24mph with a trailing wind to help but no real warmup and by mile 5 one guy had us at 28mph. Riders start dropping off and soon the 11 is down to 6. Made it back to shop with 39 miles in then an additional 35 miles before rolling back into garage.

Mid-May but windy and in the 40's today. Oh well, at least it was dry. 22 mile ride from home on the long wheelbase 'bent. Rode up Foxhill road in Morgan County for the first time this year.

23 miles, about 2/3s of that on the local MUP. Usually I pass almost everyone except the guys on road bikes with drop bars. Several of those guys flew by me. And today I was passed by a young guy riding a mountain bike with even fatter, noisier tires than my bike, and he was held up by a very little girl who was hauling a&& on a tiny pink BMX bike and outrunning me. Seriously, she had to be going 15 mph on that little bike, her legs a blur of motion fast enough to churn butter.

Today I was faster only than the usual loafers on city bikes. But I still enjoyed the whole ride.

Cold, nasty, and windy and I had things to do in the morning Saturday. A little cool and some wind today but not bad. Took a friend who DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO RIDE out.
It's amazing how much we take for granted, like how to push the pedals, how to shift, which gear to use when, how to get on and off the bike, and how NOT to take a beautiful (and rare) Klein and destroy it by taking off the shocks and disc brakes and trying to make it into a road bike (that it will never be). So sad.
But I gave it my best anyway. We did seven easy (to me) flat miles. I rode there to meet him and took another 8 mile ride after breakfast for a total of 21 on the Sirrus. Bicycling is NOT for everyone.

It's a myth that no two snowflakes are exactly the same. In 1988, a scientist found two identical snow crystals. They came from a storm in Wisconsin.
