Late entry...from 5Aug17...sorry, no computer. Rode the 62 mile route of Blazing Saddle 75 in Granbury, Texas. An excellent and well supported ride (SAGs ~every 10 miles) in scenic easy rolling country (my gadget counted 2553 in ascent). Temp at finish 100 with 39% humidity (thankfully)...road temp 107.

17 miles Wednesday morning, and improved my time on the same route I rode last night.

Several of my bicycling friends rode that too, said it was a good ride. Now they're considering the Hotter 'n' Hell Hundred later this month.

LOL, a fellow I rode the last six or so miles with suggested I ride the HtH as well. I had to take a pass since I'd driven in from E.Tennessee to ride the BS75 with a buddy of mine (who unfortunately dehydrated out). Maybe next year.

Oh, and 21 miles today...81 degrees/65% humidity (back in TN).

26.4 miles (42.5k). The temp went directly from moderate to hot. I felt tired on today's ride (damn this old age).

Great 10 mile ride. Placed a large rock on the shoulder at my climb stopping point. See if I can't kick that rock up hill a little every day. Only about 1,000 more feet of climbing to go!.

Acted the part of a bike commuter yesterday and today. 21 miles each day in just about perfect weather - 60ish in the am and 80ish in the pm with low humidity

My training partner bailed on me so instead I was going to drop off my bag and head out to do an interval set. Wife texted me to ask if I'd run home and grab a package off the stoop. Still ended up with 23 miles (and some spousal brownie points in the bank).

42 Miles on a 97°F day. Have to ride in the heat because that's how 2 months of summer here are. Forest fires on 3 sides of me so I wore a fine particle face mask. Thought it would be hot but it didn't bother me at all. Stopped and cooled off at 4 irrigation canals and the park.

Had a doctor's appointment shortly after my ride yesterday so I didn't get to post. Did 40 very hot and humid miles; 25 with a buddy and 15 solo. Pretty much repeated the same thing again today. Heat is getting to where I just can't seem to pick up my game. I'm sure that my 70 year old body has nothing to do with it.

23.9 miles (38.5k). Wore the arm sleeves for half the ride. Temps are supposed to climb back into the low 90s tomorrow.
Got the estimate on fixing the SUV transmission ('02 Mercedes). $830, could have been a lot worse. That's half the cost of a good used bicycle. But still several thousand dollars less than a 5 year old used compact SUV. Gotta do it.
I've put almost 3,800 miles on the bikes, only 600 on the car this year.

42 very pleasant and sunny miles. Temps around 79 degrees. 21-mile turnaround point at Five Islands:

Real summertime FL heat, humidity and storms have finally descended upon us. Bike is in the shop for new wheels, cog, chain, etc., anyway, so I've been hitting the stairmaster at the gym. I've discovered the legs are the weak link in the chain, so to speak, and I want to finish off a good riding year with the Santa Fe Century (October) and the Horrible Hundred in Clermont in November (hilly for us Floridians, please no jokes....)

What's up with your wheels?
I am going to join a gym, myself. I haven't been stretching, and it shows in my riding. It's hard to get into a routine at home, alone, though.

Wife was out shopping with the daughter so I decided to do 50 miles today. I need to get back into doing my 1K months and at this point, I'm a little ahead of the game for this month. However, I should have given a little more consideration to the temperature and the extra time it would take to do the extra 10 miles.

22.3 miles (35.9k). Felt a bit sluggish today. Took the S-Works Tarmac out, quite a difference in the ride from the Roubaix(s). Of course being 71 and trying to ride like I'm 26 tells the tale. It was the Tour de Old Fart.

About 50 miles Friday, between a solo and group ride. Started out really hot then cooled suddenly with a cloudburst that hovered over the area we were riding, while we could see clear skies just beyond. Couldn't complain about getting wet when it cooled down to 80.

First ride on the hybrid after switching from the riser bar I'd ridden the past year to a flat bar. Feels okay, more efficient. Took awhile to get the back and neck into shape for the slightly lower, more aggressive riding position.

58 miles with the club with my new wheels, tires, cassette and chain. I like the Aeolus 5 Comps, definitely a big difference! The High Bees have changed it up a bit on Saturday AM. The entire group does a 30+ miler, and those that want to do an additional 20+ hang together and do a second loop. There were just two of us on the extended ride, but we helpick good pace, averaging over 20 on the last 26 miles. Was really starting to get steamy at the finish.

Had a really good 3.5 hours of sleep and wanted to get out at 0300 but didn't make it until 0310. Digital weather info at house had 81F with 77% humidity and Garmin had 77F with 94% humidity, either way it was yucky. Planned on a nice easy 15mph average for 30 miles since I had the LBS ride at 0800 BUT....... 57 miles later I was back at the house, quick shower, kit change, made the boss lady's breakfast since she was heading out for a Girl Scout recruitment thingy and a fast egg for myself, bike change then out the garage door at 0743 for the 5 miles to the LBS ride start. Get half way there and the roads are sopped. Stupid morning shower got the spotless Propel looking like a mangy dog.

The ride starts and thankfully the pace is a reasonable 19mph for the first 6 miles then they started the 22mph to 26mph stuff. Took my turns at the front until I had 97 miles in and that was it. Cruised back to the shop with 101 miles total then a different way home topped me out at 109 miles. Supposed to be a 0645 ride tomorrow from the shop so we shall see????

No, the heat index rose into the 100º plus mark. On some days it doesn't bother me but on some, like yesterday, it does.

Nice and sunny skies this morning with 0% chance of rain until noon. At least that's what they said. Met my buddy Frankie to do our 60 mile, Saturday ride and took off talking about a trip to Italy that we are taking next year. All is well! So, around 9:30 and 26 miles into the ride, it starts to get dark and starts raining. From the looks of the sky, and the radar, it didn't look as if this was going to go away any time soon so I went home, took a shower and the rain stops and the the sun comes out. Sometimes, I just can't win!

25.7 miles (41.4k). Would have liked to do more but the traffic, both car and bike path, has been crazy, and I ran outta steam. The weather has been bike perfect (with the usual late morning wind).
Update on the SUV - transmission is kaput! Gonna cost me more than the 2002 beast is worth but gotta do it.
