15-ish miles this afternoon on the tandem. Sunny and upper 40's. Not bad for a Thanksgiving afternoon.
0 miles today, but lots of turkey. Tomorrow I'll try to do 30-40, and Saturday is supposed to be nice, so another bunch of miles, maybe even 50.
26 miles after thanksgiving dinner Thursday. Lovely evening, cool and clear. Very little traffic since I started late enough (8 pm) for sober folks to be home and returned early enough (10 pm) to beat the drunks home.
Did the annual Sacramento Thanksgiving Ride: 48 miles with my son, teammates, and 130 of my closest riding friends. Great times.
Rained all day yesterday, but got in 36 good miles this AM after it dried up a bit. Planning on a club ride tomorrow.
Still have morning Cuppa in hand.. ~o)

I drove up to spend the day with the relatives yesterday. Of course I ate way too much great tasting, rich and fattening, Thanksgiving food. But we have 3 days to ride it off. I got in only 71 minutes today, mainly because I wanted to save some legs (not turkey legs) for Saturday and Sunday. And I also felt really sluggish today. I can only imagine what my blood sugar levels are like after all those carbs and pies yesterday.
"Sluggish", a great word for today! It is actually a beautiful day, mid-50's and sunny, but very windy. Decided not to go for a ride and enjoyed the day instead doing chores. I am still riding as much as my summer schedule (100-200 miles a week) due to the KickR, which I really enjoy having. Body not used to eating outstanding food. :)

32 miles on ye ol' vintage tandem with my sweetie.

37 miles Friday evening, including a casual group ride to check out the holiday lights downtown. Beautiful evening, cool, clear, not much wind until my ride home.

After a couple weeks of cold and wet, and one or two missed opportunities, we had a day of sunshine and 40s. So I finally got out for a couple hours but the computer was home in a drawer, so no brag about how far I went. Don't know, don't care as long as I can get out.
Sunny and near 50*, but again very windy. I took the Sutra out for 14.1 miles and I truly felt great. Two weeks on the KickR has added a good two mph to my average speed, even on the heavier bike.
We got the wind too! Yesterday for some silly reason I started out with the wind to my back. This meant having to combat a good southerly head wind on the rebound trip home. Today both the wind an I reversed that, and I had a good northerly wind to my back on the rebound.
I'm still feeling a little sluggish, so I'm wondering if a cold is beginning to happen. The runny nose is no fun on the bike, so I think I'll break out some chicken noodle soup as a preventative measure. |
Rained on Thanksgiving Day morning, so I couldn't get my pre dinner ride in and it also rained on and off, all day yesterday. After helping my wife get a few things done, I met my buddy, Frankie, for a late start, 60 mile ride. On our last lap, we came across another gator lying on the roadway taking in the sun. We also saw this guy on Wednesday's ride but that one was only about 3 feet. Today's gator was a bit bigger.

No gators on the club ride today. It was a 'balmy' 50 degrees at the start, which is downright cold for us Floridians. Beautiful 40+ mile ride through the nicely paved roads of Gilcrest County, a far cry from the cobblestone-like roads here. If I get all chores (that I was supposed to do today) done early, tomorrow will be a nice easy ride. I need to change both tires out, as they have flattened. No complaints, I'm getting much better service with the Conti GP II 4000's.
I got 32 miles in today on the island, aka Wrightsville Beach, I ran out of daylight and traffic was getting bad due to the Floatilla getting ready to start.
Not yet...but the day is still young!
Just got back from a vacation in Arizona where we rode seven days in a row, so if I miss today it won't be a huge loss. But I'm actually looking forward to getting out for a spin today to remind myself what it's like to ride in longsleeves and tights! [Edit: Got a nice 22 mile ride in with the missus, quiet easy spin through rolling wooded terrain for the first half, then a more spirited sprint down the highway while trying to convince ourselves that we had a tailwind (we didn't) for the return half.] |
A bit chilly start this morning but it didn't take long for the temps to reach the 70s. I guess quite a few people had the same thing in mind as I did and went riding in the park. It was packed when I got there and packed when I left. Had a nice 40 mile ride with my riding buddy dodging the slow casual riders and rollerbladers.
After consuming massive quantities of chicken noodle soup yesterday I'm feeling better today. Probably just a coincidence?
I ventured out thinking about a little spin around some neighborhoods, but ended up riding out into the countryside, and cruising through other two small towns before heading home. Got in 2 hours and 20 minutes on a beautiful, sunny, mid-60's Autumn day. |
24 mi on the trainer. UPF rated jersey arriving tuesday so maybe I can hit the road again.
About 15 miles (?) early in the evening today - starting to get dark. Scary moment when I realized my Garmin's battery was dead and I didn't know exactly how fast I was going or how far I had gone. And wouldn't for the rest of the ride. Decided to go on in spite of that.
About 45 miles Sunday evening -- apps kept quitting and recorded 43 but checking the map it was probably about 45. First third was a hard workout, middle third was a casual group ride, final leg home somewhere between the two. Cool, pleasant evening, good to see some friends I hadn't seen for awhile.
Going to be a wonderful day today. Sunny, less windy and 60*.
I've come to a realization today that I may be in the opening stages of losing the best dog I've ever known. I think I'll just spend the day with her instead of the ride. No amount of miles are going to help me through this... |
Got a nice surprise this morning when I got to the park for my ride. My buddy Frank C showed up for his first ride in two months after coming down with a bad case of bronchitis. We had a great time catching up on things during our 40 mile ride. Nice to see him back in the saddle again.
